Senior IT Project Manager

 

The Technology Solutions and Innovations Department is a leading, connected partner that delivers a full range of cutting-edge products and services to meet business needs. 

 

We are seeking a Senior IT Project manager with experience related to data governance, document management, and systems integration projects.

This position can be based in Montreal, Brossard, or Quebec City, with 100% remote work available.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing proposals or project plans to determine schedules, funding limits, project execution procedures, staffing needs, and allocation of available departmental resources to different project phases. Contribute to project strategies and deliverable prioritization.
  • Identifying and planning project deliverables, milestones, and activities, while coordinating stakeholder availability.
  • Providing leadership and motivation to the project team throughout the project lifecycle, and working with staff to define a work plan.
  • Acting as a coach for junior project managers, managers, and others in need of guidance on project management practices.
  • Developing work plans and staffing for project activities, iterations, or phases, and coordinating the recruitment or assignment of project staff.
  • Analyzing project proposals to determine schedules, funding boundaries, and appropriate processes for project completion.
  • Implementing a project communication plan.
  • Conducting risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Monitoring project activities to ensure timeliness, quality, and integrity of information, while maintaining consistency in content and presentation across the organization.
  • Ensuring that project objectives align with the business unit’s objectives.
  • Ensuring project goals are achieved.
  • Assigning tasks and responsibilities to project staff and defining their level of authority.
  • Directing and coordinating project staff activities to ensure projects progress on time and within budget.
  • Reviewing project status reports prepared by staff and adjusting schedules or plans as needed.
  • Establishing standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
  • Continuously evaluating project management performance to identify improvement opportunities and strengthen project/portfolio management capabilities.
  • Approving or setting the work plan of an external service provider or consulting firm engaged to execute the project (if applicable).

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Intelligence, or other relevant experience.
  • Seven or more years of IT experience at increasingly responsible levels, with sensitivity and commitment to solving business problems.
  • Five years of successful management of complex, high-risk projects.
  • Five or more years of experience in or working directly with a business unit (BU), with commitment to addressing business challenges.
  • Experience leading diverse teams.
  • Distinctive mix of business, IT, financial, and communication skills — essential given the role’s visibility and significant impact.
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging technologies, and how other organizations use them to drive digital transformation.
  • Knowledge of project management methodology and familiarity with major program management frameworks (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, Agile approaches).
  • Advanced knowledge of project planning/scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Open Workbench), with solid hands-on application.
  • Bilingual (English/French, spoken and written).
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft Modern Work (asset).
  • Familiarity with the construction business sector (asset).
