Role Overview:

PIC North America, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity. We are seeking a Director, Data & Product Platforms to join our team. The Director, Data & Product Platforms is a strategic and hands‑on technology leader responsible for designing, building, and evolving the company’s internal software ecosystem, genetic evaluation computing architecture, and customer‑facing technology platforms. This role provides technical leadership across internal development, evaluates industry‑specific technology providers, and leads the identification and deployment of AI‑driven tools to enhance both operational effectiveness and customer value.

 

The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with deep software architecture expertise, strong management capabilities, and a proven ability to translate advanced technologies—including AI—into practical, scalable business solutions.

 

This position can be a remote based role within the United States, with approximately 10-20% domestic and international travel.

 

The salary range for this position is $175,000 - $225,000 USD. The salary provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

 

You Will:

People & Organizational Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership across software development, technical architecture, and organizational capability to enable advanced genetic evaluation and data-driven decision-making
  • Build and lead high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, compliance, and innovation
  • Drive organizational change, particularly in the adoption of new systems, modern data platforms, and AI capabilities, while ensuring alignment between technical solutions, scientific methodologies, and business objectives
  • Strong stakeholder engagement is central, with clear communication of vision, priorities, and outcomes across both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Provide clear leadership around technical priorities, platform roadmaps, delivery trade-offs, and long-term capability development.

 

Development & Management of Internal Software Programs and Genetic Evaluation Architecture

  • Lead the local design, development, and ongoing management of internal software products supporting genetic evaluation models, computational pipelines, data integration, and analytics.
  • Own the relationship with corporate infrastructure and computing architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, data integrity, security, and performance across on‑premise and/or cloud environments.
  • Oversee development of customer‑facing interfaces that translate complex genetic data into intuitive, reliable, and high‑value user experiences.
  • Partner with central services to leverage shared platforms and establish best practices for SDLC, documentation, system governance, QA, and release management.

 

Technical Leadership in AI and Industry‑Specific Software and Technology Evaluation

  • Serve as a senior technical strategic advisor and thought leader in evaluating industry‑specific software solutions, platforms, and technology partners relevant to genetic evaluation, data science, and customer engagement.
  • Lead the local evaluation and recommendation of build-versus-buy decisions, oversee integration and architecture assessments, and ensure solutions meet performance, security, and scalability requirements
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and development of AI and machine learning tools to improve internal operations, automation, predictive capabilities, and decision‑making while aligning with and leveraging corporate resources and investment
  • Translate emerging technologies into differentiated products, decision-support tools, and enhanced customer outcomes through close partnership with business and scientific leaders
Requirements:

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in software development, systems architecture, and technology leadership, including:
    • Demonstrated experience leading the design, development, and operation of complex software and/or data platforms in data-intensive environments.
    • Strong understanding of data platform architecture, computational pipelines, data integration, analytics, cloud and/or hybrid computing environments, and scalable system design.
    • Proven experience leading technical teams responsible for software development, platform engineering, architecture, release management, and operational reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with genetic, scientific, bioinformatics, or highly analytical data environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with AI/ML systems, model lifecycles, and applied AI solutions.
  • Background in evaluating and integrating third‑party enterprise or industry‑specific software platforms.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence skills.
