Chief Information Officer (CIO)
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a strategic, hands-on technology executive responsible for enabling Optimal Blue’s growth through scalable, secure, and efficient technology capabilities while optimizing cloud spend and driving modernization and automation across the organization. In a cloud-based, SaaS environment, the CIO leads the enterprise technology function (client-facing systems, corporate applications, identity, collaboration tooling, data platforms, security, and governance) while partnering closely with Product and Engineering leadership to ensure the company’s platform and internal operations meet the demands of reliability, compliance, customer trust, and rapid innovation. The CIO also serves as the executive owner of information security, cybersecurity risk management, system integrity and IT operational controls ensuring technology enables business while protecting it from internal and external threats.
The target salary range for this position is $255,000.00 - $295,000.00 USD plus bonus.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the company’s enterprise technology strategy aligned to business and product objectives, including M&A activities.
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team on technology risks, opportunities, and investment priorities.
Establish clear technology governance, decision frameworks, standards, and operating rhythms (planning, prioritization, KPIs/OKRs).
Build and mentor high-performing teams across IT, security, and business platforms.
SaaS Operational Excellence & Reliability
Partner with Engineering and Product leaders to promote consistent practices across:
Incident response, problem management, change/release governance
Observability (monitoring, logging, alerting), SRE/DevOps maturity
Service ownership, SLAs/SLOs, and customer-impact prevention
Drive a culture of availability, performance, and continuous improvement, including post-incident learnings and root cause remediation.
Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance
Own and mature the company’s security program including:
Data protection, encryption standards, secrets management, and secure SDLC alignment
Identity and access management, endpoint security, vulnerability management
Security awareness and phishing resilience
Lead enterprise risk management for technology, including third-party/vendor risk.
Ensure readiness for and compliance with relevant frameworks and requirements, such as SOC 2, and customer contractual obligations.
Oversee audits, penetration tests, and remediation programs; report risk posture clearly to leadership.
Establish an enterprise approach to data governance, retention, access control, and analytics enablement.
Cloud, Infrastructure, and Collaboration Tooling
Lead strategy for cloud infrastructure supporting client-facing platforms and internal services (identity, networking, endpoint fleet, collaboration suite, etc).
Drive FinOps practices managing cloud and SaaS spend, optimizing costs without compromising availability, security, or performance.
Customer Trust & Stakeholder Management
Act as an executive sponsor for customer security reviews, escalations, and due diligence requests.
Communicate technology strategy, system health, and risk posture to internal stakeholders and as needed, strategic customers/partners.
Experience Profile
10+ years of progressive IT leadership with ownership of enterprise technology strategy, operating models, and delivery.
Proven experience operating in a SaaS/cloud-first environment with high availability expectations.
Strong experience of building and leading highly effective and cohesive teams.
Deep Microsoft ecosystem expertise (e.g., Azure, Microsoft 365, identity, security) and experience standardizing platforms in hybrid environments.
Excellent executive communication skills; ability to translate technical topics into business outcomes.
Track record operating in regulated, mission-critical environments with strong governance, controls, and audit/exam readiness.
Demonstrated success leading M&A technology integration (due diligence, Day-1 readiness, post-close stabilization) with minimal business disruption.
Experience enabling a globally distributed workforce through secure end-user services and scalable support operations.
