Job description

$5000 - $6000 per month │Full Time │Core working hours 7 AM-3 PM EST

Hey there! I’m Lindsay, Human Resources (HR) Manager at Interpersonal Frequency.

We’re a passionate team dedicated to building top-notch digital experiences that make a real impact. Since 2009, our mission has been to create powerful, user-friendly websites for government agencies, non-profits, and public organizations. We believe that great technology should be accessible to everyone, and we take pride in delivering innovative solutions that help communities thrive.

At I.F., we’re all about authenticity, collaboration, and accountability. We love what we do, and we’re looking for like-minded folks to join us.

If you’re someone who values integrity, takes ownership of your work, and enjoys working with a supportive team, you’ll fit right in!

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Drupal Developer to join our Delivery team.

As a Senior Backend Engineer at I.F., you own the backend architecture and technical integrity of every project your pod delivers - building, configuring, and maintaining Drupal modules, system integrations, and backend infrastructure that meet both project requirements and long-term performance and security standards.

Where a mid-level developer executes assigned work, a senior developer is accountable for the quality and coherence of the full backend layer: your output holds up through code review without generating rework, your pod lead and teammates can rely on your delivery, and risks or blockers are surfaced early - not after a client notices.

You collaborate closely with frontend developers and your pod lead to ensure backend decisions serve the full stack, contribute substantively to the code review process in both directions, and support site migrations, data integrations, and on-call coverage as part of the shared commitments that keep the business running.

The difference you make is simple: the pod's technical foundation is solid, sprint commitments are credible, and the work shipped to clients reflects the standard I.F. is known for.

Your main responsibilities will include::

  • Building, configuring, and maintaining backend systems, Drupal modules, and integrations per project requirements
  • Collaborating with your pod's other developers and pod lead to ensure front-to-back technical coherence
  • Participating actively in the code review process — giving and receiving substantive feedback
  • Contributing to pod sprint commitments and flagging risks or blockers to your pod lead promptly
  • Supporting site migrations, data integrations, and performance and security considerations
  • Maintaining technical architecture integrity across delivered work
  • Delivering quality work consistently within a defined scope
  • Providing on-call coverage support according to the company-wide calendar

This is a full-time role, with core working hours of 7 am-3 pm EST, and the rest are flexible.

Requirements

To excel in the role of Senior Backend Drupal Developer, you need:

✅5+ years of experience in backend development in one or more relevant languages or frameworks (e.g., PHP, Python, Node.js, or equivalent)

✅Demonstrated experience building and maintaining backend systems for production web applications

Drupal module development, configuration, and site building experience

✅Server-side logic, API integrations, and data migration

✅Code review — giving and receiving constructive, technically grounded feedback

✅Performance and security considerations for production web environments

Brownie points for:

⭐Experience with Lagoon or similar container-based hosting environments

⭐Site migration or data integration experience at scale

⭐Familiarity with accessibility and government compliance requirements

We’re looking for people who are authentic, accountable, and strong team players.

You take ownership of your work, communicate openly, and enjoy working collaboratively with others.

If you’ve got an “I've got this” attitude and love tackling challenges, we’d love to hear from you!
