About the Role (your why)
Our Data Centre team ensures that Datacom’s mission-critical infrastructure operates seamlessly, reliably, and efficiently 24/7, 365. As a Data Centre Site Facility Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the performance and availability of our data centre facilities, overseeing everything from electrical and mechanical systems to environmental control, fire safety, and security. This hands-on role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex systems in a high-availability environment.

The site is based in Rosedale, North Auckland and is an on-site only position.

 

What You’ll Do
As a Data Centre Site Facility Manager, you will be focused on:

  • Overseeing all on-site data centre systems and environments—mechanical, electrical, fire, security, building and grounds, monitoring systems, and communication cabling infrastructure.
  • Ensuring zero downtime and the continuous high performance of the supporting infrastructure.
  • Leading maintenance programs and developing a robust change management process.
  • Managing risks associated with change, ensuring comprehensive task analyses are conducted and peer reviewed.
  • Acting as the escalation point for local facilities incidents.
  • Collaborating with Operations Enablement and Facilities Management to ensure sufficient facility capacity.
  • Supporting internal and external audits in partnership with the Audit/Compliance teams.
  • Maintaining local BAU maintenance schedules and supporting 24x7 Data Centre Engineers with risk and status updates.
  • Occasionally serving on the 24x7 on-call roster (up to six twelve-hour shifts per annum).
  • Managing and updating the facility risk register and ACMS system.
  • Driving innovation and improvement across facility operations and staying abreast of industry trends.
  • Assisting in local data centre projects and ensuring adherence to Datacom’s health, safety, and security policies.

What You’ll Bring
• Background in one of the fields of Electrical, Mechanical, or BMS controls
• 4+ years of facilities management experience in a complex, multi-faceted managed services environment
• Proven experience managing data centre infrastructure and maintenance programs
• Strong understanding of data centre operations and risk management
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for diverse audiences
• Strong analytical skills for problem-solving in complex technical environments
• Trade qualification in an applicable field
• Experience with compliance and audit delivery processes
• Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives in data centre operations
