Job description

Role Summary

Revamp is seeking a Power Systems Engineer I to support power system studies and design efforts for utility-scale renewable energy projects. This role focuses on performing various analyses of renewable energy power systems, including short-circuit, load-flow, arc flash, and protective device coordination studies for solar, battery energy storage, and renewable substation facilities. This role directly contributes to collection system design and overall project execution.

This role contributes to Revamp’s mission of accelerating the clean energy transition by delivering accurate, high-quality engineering analyses and supporting the safe, reliable integration of solar PV and battery energy storage systems into the grid, while developing technical expertise under the guidance of senior engineers.

Duties & Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Technical Execution:

  • Perform power system studies including but not limited to:
  • Protective device coordination
  • Short-circuit analysis
  • Arc flash analysis
  • Load flow studies
  • Ampacity calculations
  • Grounding studies
  • Harmonic analysis
  • Power quality assessments
  • Design collection systems, including cable routing and cable sizing.
  • Performs tasks on small projects or portions of larger projects.
  • Participate in the creation of equipment specifications for and gain knowledge of renewable energy systems including PV solar modules, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transformers, cable management systems, and balance-of-system (BOS).
  • Create written reports and make presentations describing studies performed, solutions developed, and value obtained.
  • Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
  • Work under the direction of more senior staff.
  • Receives close supervision on all aspects of assignments.
  • Receives a thorough review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment.

  • Perform additional related duties as assigned or directed.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience, including academic projects, internships, co-ops, research, or entry-level engineering experience
  • Foundational understanding of power systems concepts, such as load flow, short circuit, protection, grounding, or renewable energy systems.
  • Strong interest in power systems engineering, renewable energy, and technical problem-solving.
  • Professional demeanor with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Demonstrated passion for learning, collaboration, and contributing to high-quality engineering work.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Efficient time management – handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of power systems analysis software tools such as ETAP, CDEGS, CYMCAP, PSS/E, PSLF or similar desirable.
  • Internship, co-op, academic, or early-career experience related to power systems analysis, electrical design, renewable energy, or utility interconnection.
  • Exposure to solar PV, battery energy storage, wind, microgrid, or other renewable energy systems.
  • EIT Certificate is desirable but not required.
  • Exposure to Python, VBA, MATLAB, or another programming language for engineering analysis or process automation.
