Job description

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all pharmacy operations, processes, and products consistently meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and patient safety protocols. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control measures, conducting audits, investigating deviations, and collaborating with various departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives. The QA Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and reliability of pharmaceutical care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality System Support: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) for pharmacy services. This includes contributing to the creation and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and guidelines.

  • Auditing and Compliance:

    • Conduct routine and targeted internal audits of pharmacy processes, documentation, and product quality (e.g., reporting, dispensing, inventory management) to ensure adherence to internal policies, best practices, and regulatory requirements (e.g., USP <797>/<800>, Joint Commission, ACHC, CMS, state Board of Pharmacy, HIPAA).

    • Identify areas of non-compliance or potential risk and report findings to management.

    • Assist in preparing for and participating in external regulatory inspections and audits.

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, analyze, and trend quality data (e.g., error rates, audit findings, complaint data) to identify patterns, evaluate performance, and inform continuous improvement efforts. Prepare regular quality reports for management review.

  • Training & Education: Assist in developing and delivering training programs to pharmacy staff on quality standards, new procedures, and regulatory updates to promote a culture of quality and compliance.

  • Documentation & Record Keeping: Ensure all quality-related documentation is accurate, complete, current, and properly maintained in accordance with retention policies.

  • Process Improvement:

    • Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements that maintain or improve quality.

    • Collaborate with pharmacy staff and leadership to implement continuous improvement projects.

Requirements:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of home infusion experience preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in a quality assurance, quality control, or highly regulated environment, preferably within a pharmacy, healthcare, or pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and tools.

  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., USP <797>/<800>, Joint Commission, CMS, HIPAA, state Board of Pharmacy) is highly desirable.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Preferred - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform:

  • SharePoint: Ability to architect and deploy new SharePoint sites, manage complex permissions, and optimize document libraries for team collaboration.

  • Power BI: Skilled in developing, publishing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and data visualizations to drive business insights.

  • Power Automate: Proven ability to design, build, and troubleshoot end-to-end automated workflows to streamline manual processes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports and procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

 As part of Evernorth Health Services, this role supports CarepathRx within our Pharmacy and Care Delivery organization. Our team focuses on specialty pharmacy and infusion services in partnership with hospitals and health systems.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 68,700 - 114,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
