Location: Open to candidates based in Belmopan (Belize), Bogota (Colombia), Guatemala City (Guatemala), Lima (Peru), Mexico City (Mexico), or São Paulo (Brazil).
As Regional Operations Manager, you will serve as a strategic leader, guiding all operational activities within the Latin America Region. Overseeing a region comprised of 500+ staff and a budget exceeding $90 million, you will set the vision for operational excellence and foster a culture of high performance across diverse teams. You will champion key partnerships with regional functional leads and provide oversight for Operations, Contracts, Asset and Facilities Management, and Office Safety. With responsibility for procurement and sustainability expanding over time, you will shape and steward business processes and guidelines, empowering your teams to deliver impactful results and drive organizational success.
The Regional Operations Manager will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the Region by developing and coordinating operative plans and overseeing day-to-day tasks. Your responsibilities include championing the enhancement of administrative systems, managing information resources, and leading the creation and adoption of new guidelines and processes to strengthen functional activities. To do so, they will adhere to and advise on the organization's policies and procedures developing consistent processes across the Region. The Manager will cultivate strong partnerships with Conservancy staff, donors, trustees, vendors, public agencies, financial institutions, and professional advisors, serving as a strategic connector and advisor. Leveraging their deep expertise in operational systems and resources, the Manager will lead communications, training, and planning initiatives that build organizational capacity and consistency across the Region. They will lead diverse activities, analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, project outcomes, and implement solutions in order to improve effectiveness.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
Act independently, exercise independent judgment to identify and solve financial and operations complex problems;
Design and manage multiple projects, directing work of staff, setting deadlines, and ensuring accountability;
Design and plan new initiatives that will ensure department and organization-wide goals and strategies are achieved;
Direct or participate in negotiations for complex or sensitive agreements;
Ensure programmatic commitments, Conservancy policies and procedures, GAAP, and financial standards are met and managed for compliance. Decisions may have program-wide impact and may bind the organization financially or legally;
They will oversee and manage their business unit’s compliance regarding data, information and record management and youth safety programs;
Provide timely and accurate financial reports and analysis to board members, project managers and BU Directors;
Develop and monitor budget, forecast, sustainability, and strategic financial plans;
Provide financial expertise on land deals or other special projects;
Ensure revenue, expenses and net assets are managed to reflect donor intent including working with cross-functional teams to perform revenue allocation;
Develop quarterly certifications related to lands, depreciation of assets, and others
May oversee day-to-day purchasing, negotiating, and contracting with vendors
Ensure contracted vendors carry required insurance coverage and that appropriate documentation is obtained and maintained;
Maintain confidentiality of frequently sensitive and emotionally-charged information;
Manage team accountability for strategic goals related to functional area;
Supervise one or more administrative or professional staff, including training and professional development;
Travel frequently and on short notice, working long or flexible hours as needed; and
Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or. strain.
Manage or oversee activities related to in-country legal, labor and financial compliance.
Manage and oversee relationships with other vendors and service providers as needed.
Manage and/or oversee invoice processing.
Manage all Operations aspects of entry into new countries in the region, and exit from countries where TNC is ceasing operations.
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years related experience or equivalent combination, including 2 years managing operations functions;
Administration/Operations experience;
Experience leading and implementing multiple projects;
Experience analyzing and interpreting data;
Experience developing and administering departmental budget or equivalent;
Experience negotiating agreements;
Experience working with teams across an organization with a collaborative approach and critical thinking; and
Supervisory experience including setting objectives, managing performance, and conflict resolution.
Spanish and/or Portuguese
Advanced English level, with the ability to hold formal professional conversations in meetings and in person
Desired Qualifications:
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences are appreciated with fluency Fluent in English and Spanish or Portuguese;
Ability to work in partnership with others in a collaborative or advisory role;
Demonstrated ability to conceive and write creatively for various audiences;
Experience developing, managing, and implementing goals, plans, and complex processes;
Expertise in current and evolving technology related to field of experience;
Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in relevant discipline, preferably in a non-profit environment;
Proficiency in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data;
Successful experience managing and implementing strategic program goals; and/or
Superior planning and problem-solving skills.
