  • Master's degree in Engineering Management or a closely related field with at least 3 years of professional analytics or actuarial experience in the healthcare industry; or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Management or a closely related field with at least 5 years of analytics or actuarial experience in the healthcare industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a multi-location healthcare environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams; experience using Jira for project management.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Azure, SAS, Databricks, and advanced Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot) and experience designing architectures for reporting and analytics in complex data environments.
  • Experience applying economic strategies to reduce health disparities, incorporate social determinants of health (SDOH) into economic models, and using Tableau or Power BI for data visualization; familiarity with HIPAA, HEDIS, NCQA, CMS regulations, payer-provider contracts, and population health strategies.

Job description

InterWell Health Partners Inc., Senior Manager, Medical Economics, (Waltham, MA- Remote): Coordinate companywide requests for analysis and monitoring of engineering-related data, applying engineering and economic knowledge and expertise to support business initiatives and solve business problems to support management. Manage team of analysts through data analysis and related projects. Duties include:

  • Manage and assign data reporting projects to analyst team to support key functions including provider contract development, product development, client membership and metrics reporting.
  • Oversee, financial information collection and preparation for management review.
  • Lead and develop direct reports through coaching and development plans, fostering an engaged and productive team.
  • Utilize programming skills and systems to access, organize, and analyze complex data, ensuring accuracy and drawing sound conclusions.
  • Monitor and assess operational performance, identifying trends and discrepancies while ensuring effective execution of responsibilities and activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data capabilities and quality of department analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain extensive understanding of internal company data, the healthcare market, and relevant legislative changes.
  • Perform comprehensive data research, mining, and reporting for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and adjust report project timelines to ensure timely delivery.

Minimum Requirements:

Masters degree in Engineering Management or closely related field and three (3) years of professional analytics or actuarial experience in the healthcare industry; or in the alternative Bachelors degree in Engineering Management or closely related field and five (5) years of professional analytics or actuarial experience in the healthcare industry.

Must have 3 years of experience with the following (may be gained concurrently with above):

  • Working in multi-location environment within healthcare industry
  • Working with cross functional teams, using Jira as a project management tool.
  • Working with SQL, Azure, SAS, Databricks, and advanced Excel functions (Power Query, Power Pivot).
  • Working in complex data environments and designing architectures to support reporting and analytics.
  • Applying economic strategies to reduce health disparities, improve population outcomes, and integrate social determinants of health (SDOH) into economic models.
  • Utilizing Tableau or Power BI.
  • Presenting to and communicating in written and oral forms with all levels of management.
  • Working with HIPAA, HEDIS, NCQA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks, ensuring compliance in economic evaluations and reporting.
  • Working with CMS regulations, payer-provider contracts, and population health strategies.

This position is remote and can be performed from any location within the United States.

Salary range: $142,085/yr to $180,000/yr

Less than 10% domestic travel to onsite meetings as needed.
