Description:

The Communications Specialist in the School of Medicine supports the execution of communications strategies, plans, and tactics that advance the school’s tripartite mission of research, education and clinical care. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, has experience using internal communications tools and platforms, and is highly attentive to detail.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consults with management and staff to design, develop and maintain a website.
  • Develops, writes and edits various communications materials including correspondence, newsletters, brochures and articles.
  • Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information.
  • Maintains required record-keeping and documentation.
  • May train staff in the use of communications technology.
  • May utilize various aspects of social media to accomplish work objectives.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop, write and edit high-quality content for multiple channels, e.g. newsletters, websites, announcements, and digital signage.
  • Ensure brand consistency, editorial quality, and message alignment across all communications materials and platforms.
  • Translate complex topics into clear, engaging messages for defined audiences.
  • Assist in building and executing communications plans and campaigns in support of school or department priorities, events, initiatives, and changes.
  • Coordinate content calendars and other tools used by the communications team.
  • Track and report key communications metrics, e.g. email performance, web analytics, engagement. Partner closely with internal team and colleagues across marketing and communications to produce communications deliverables.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
