Key Account Manager, DCR (DACH & BENELUX)
Your Opportunity
Huhtamaki is currently seeking a results‑driven, customer‑focused Key Account Manager to strengthen our Foodservice Packaging segment, managing key Distribution, Catering & Retail (DCR) accounts across the DACH & BENELUX region.
In this role, you will take full commercial ownership of a strategically significant customer portfolio. Reporting to the Category Sales Manager, DCR for DACH & BENELUX, you will drive new business, build long‑term partnerships, and deliver profitable, sustainable growth. You’ll act as the central connection point between customers, operations, and internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional customer experience.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded KAM with strong Retail experience who thrives in an international, fast‑paced B2B environment and is motivated by delivering tangible results.
Where you’ll be
This role will be based remotely in the Netherlands, with frequent travel across the DACH & BENELUX regions.
What you’ll be doing
1. Customer Relationship Management
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers and new prospects.
Proactively identify and engage new business opportunities.
Initiate actions that lead to increased sales, improved pricing, reduced costs, fewer complaints, and stronger customer satisfaction.
Ensure timely follow‑up on all actions resulting from customer visits.
Continuously improve our Voice of Customer performance.
2. Sales & Market Development
Develop a sales plan per customer and for the overall region.
Build and manage annual sales budgets per account.
Achieve monthly and annual targets for volume, turnover, and margin.
Lead the forecasting process, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
Monitor and report on price and volume trends.
Grow Huhtamaki’s market share across DACH & BENELUX.
Identify new markets, segments, and growth opportunities.
Collaborate closely with Huhtamaki Customer Service in Alf, Germany.
3. Complaints & Technical Coordination
Manage the full complaints process, including follow‑up and resolution.
Report on complaint status, including volumes, root causes, and cost impact.
Work closely with production sites to address quality issues and ensure consistent delivery performance.
Apply strong technical understanding to evaluate customer requests and feasibility.
4. Financial & Logistics Ownership
Oversee customer payments and manage outstanding debts.
Monitor and propose adjustments to customer credit limits.
Manage and reduce aging stock within the region.
5. Reporting & Administration
Prepare weekly reports covering:
Market developments (wholesale & retail)
Customer issues, complaints, gains & losses
Competitor activity, pricing, and product trends
Prepare monthly reports summarising key developments and internal needs.
Produce detailed visit reports including:
Sales vs. budget and prior year
Inventory and debt status
Action lists with timelines
Project updates
What you’ll bring
Bachelor’s degree in Commercial, International Business, Management, or similar.
Minimum 5 years of B2B sales experience, must have manufacturing industry experience, ideally in the packaging industry or another technical, multi‑stakeholder environment.
Experience and a strong network in the retail space
Proven track record of continuous commercial improvement and success.
Strong understanding of international trade, business administration, and basic finance.
Strong technical affinity — able to assess the technical impact of customer requests.
Skilled in building and maintaining long‑term commercial relationships.
Ideally experience with Salesforce and Power BI.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
International mindset with the ability to work across cultures and functions.
A good listener with a proactive, solution‑oriented approach.
Fluent Dutch and English (spoken and written), and ideally German
