Roles & Responsibilities

  • Undergraduate degree required with strong preference for technical fields (BSEE, BSME, BSCE, Chemistry, Physics, Math).
  • 10 years of related experience in electric utility or independent power producer environments within generation/operations/technical teams (Coal, Gas, Solar, Hydro, Wind).
  • Experience leading and improving safety efforts in an operational setting and building a safety culture.
  • Experience with budget development and income statement responsibility, SAP or equivalent financial reporting platform, and proven ability to manage contracts with third-party service providers.

Requirements:

  • Drive and own field service operations performance across key metrics (Safety, Finance, full maintenance scope of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and PLC systems) and own the customer relationship and contract execution.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of service contracts from initiation to renewal or termination, track vendor performance against SLAs and KPIs, and conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure service quality and compliance.
  • Develop and manage regional budgets and income statement performance in collaboration with Global Services Lead; drive asset management strategies and proactive/reactive maintenance plans.
  • Build and lead a high-performing services team, manage multiple third-party vendors in safe OM services across contracted projects, and lead root-cause analysis, change management, and training/onboarding for direct reports.

Job Description:

Role Overview

This position is responsible for building, developing, and managing a geographically dispersed team dedicated to maximizing system reliability and availability. Key priorities include co-developing and executing operational processes and documentation, supporting new project deployments, and providing comprehensive post-COD support—from issue identification and resolution to project reporting, system testing, compliance, and analytics. 

In addition, the Field Services Director will oversee the regional cost center, driving financial performance, mitigating risks, and enabling sustainable growth. By combining strategic leadership with operational excellence, this role ensures that energy storage projects deliver lasting value to both customers and the business. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and own O&M Service Business performance across key business metrics (Safety, Finance, Full Maint Scope of Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, PLC, etc.) 
  • Own the service relationship with the customer through maintaining clear lines of communication, knowledge and execution of the contract 

  • Own the safety culture, building on established Fluence safety management system (SMS) 

  • Mitigate risks by ensuring contracts align with legal, regulatory, and organizational policies. 

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of service contracts, from initiation to renewal or termination. 

  •  Track vendor performance against agreed SLAs and KPIs. 

  • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure service quality and adherence to standards. 

  • Own the regional income state performance, including budget development in consultation with Global Services Lead 

  • Drive proactive and reactive maintenance execution in Fluence Energy managed projects defined asset management strategies while incorporating a continuous improvement approach 

  • Develop an effective Services team to provide a high quality of service that is consistently appreciated and valued by the customers 

  • Manage multiple 3rd party service vendors in the safe execution of O&M services across contracted projects 

  • Identify new issues affecting product performance or Fluence Energy Service and Support business performance, develop plans for resolution, socialize, execute resolution and follow up to ensure sustainable 

  • Support/Lead/Facilitate internal and external Root Cause Analysis and Management of Change Activities 

  • Facilitate site support by supporting global services OEM suppliers’ management. 

  • Assist in the development & deployment of asset management strategies for customer assets 

  • Assist in the development & deployment of asset management strategies for customer assets 

  • Lead Battery Energy Storage Array O&M training efforts of new owners and 3rd party service providers. 

  • Foster development and provide onboarding for direct reports 

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree required with strong preference for technical degree (BSEE, BSME, BSCE, Chemistry, Physics, Math) 

  • 10 years related experience in electric utility or independent power producer experience within generation / operations / technical teams (Coal, Gas, Solar, Hydro, Wind). 

  • Must have experience leading and improving safety efforts in an operational setting. 

  • Experience with income statement responsibility, including budget development. 

  • Proven track record of technical problem solving using a structured approach & complex analytics. Ability to adapt to dynamic conditions and stay focused/execute on goals. 

  • SAP or equivalent financial reporting platform experience required. 

  • Successful track record of business process management to include project reporting/management, work execution, procure to pay, change management, workforce development and planning 

  • Experience negotiating and managing contracts with 3rd party service providers. 

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to interface with multiple levels of customer organization. 

  • Deep planning, organizing and coordination experience among multiple stakeholders to achieve common goals directly impacting business performance. 

  • Project Management, meeting leadership and facilitation experience. 

  • Excellent MS Office; SCADA Experience; MODBUS Experience 

  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time in support of existing & new Energy Storage fleet
