Job description

The Sales Proposal Consultant is a key contributor to Illuminate Rx’s RFP/RFI strategy and execution. This role provides hands-on project management and coordination support to the Illuminate and Rx Benefits RFP teams to ensure responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and related presentations are accurate, timely, and competitive across Illuminate Rx, specialty pharmacy, and pharmacy management services. The successful Sales Proposal Consultant is decisive, operates with urgency, collaborates effectively across stakeholders, and helps advance Illuminate’s 2026 growth goal of 70,000 member lives.

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead end-to-end project management for the Illuminate Rx RFP/RFI pipeline, partnering with internal stakeholders to prioritize work and meet shifting deadlines.
  • Develop accurate, timely, and competitive written responses and presentation materials for PBM, specialty pharmacy, and pharmacy management opportunities.
  • Coordinate completion of RFP analytics and supporting reports; distribute deliverables to stakeholder teams to support on-time submission.
  • Partner with Principal Advisors, Sales Directors, Business Development (BD), Account Management (AM), and other market-facing leaders to shape response strategy and coordinate required inputs.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to maintain current proposal content and the response database.
  • Maintain high quality standards for all client-facing materials, including writing, formatting, proofreading, and version control.
  • Serve as a key financial and strategic partner to internal teams and leadership in executing Illuminate Rx Deal Governance processes and playbooks.
  • Research, strategize, and deliver key deal initiatives for assigned territories and opportunities, including new and existing business.
  • Build strong relationships and operate as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders (Executive Leadership, BD, AM, PBM Relations, Legal, Finance) and external partners (PBMs and brokers) to accelerate decisions and drive process improvements.
  • Analyze offers, RFPs, and financial/sales data to identify trends and recommend alternative options tailored to client-specific needs; incorporate lessons learned from won and lost deals.
  • Streamline and manage workflows for deal-specific approvals and large-scale approvals; identify process gaps and opportunities to improve visibility and efficiency.
  • Maintain Illuminate Rx Deal Governance tracking and CRM records for approved items; ensure accuracy and partner with internal teams to improve CRM design and reporting.
  • Actively support interdepartmental initiatives and contribute to Illuminate Rx Deal Governance strategic discussions; assist the Senior Director of Sales Enablement and President on large-scale initiatives, as needed. 

Required Skills / Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) and/or the broader health care industry (or equivalent)
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience with PBM relationships, pricing, and/or contracting
  • Comfortable performing detailed analysis of financial and sales data
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate across functions
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to draft, proofread, and edit written materials quickly without sacrificing quality
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple workstreams and tight deadlines
  • Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Process- and detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • This position may work from the Birmingham, AL headquarters or remotely from home 


Based on relevant market data and other factors, the anticipated hiring range for this role is $80,000 to $103,000 annually. Final compensation rates will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity considerations. This role is also short-term incentive eligible. Incentive amounts will vary by individual and business goals.
