Railserve is hiring dependable, safety-focused Earthwork Operators in Indiana to support rail and construction projects. This is a hands-on, outdoor role responsible for operating heavy equipment to perform grading, excavation, and material placement in accordance with project specifications.

Job Description

In this role, you will operate heavy machinery, ensure proper grading and site preparation, and support field operations while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

If you enjoy working with heavy equipment, being outdoors, and contributing to large-scale infrastructure projects, this role may be a great fit.

Schedule:
Full-time; schedule varies based on project and site needs

Compensation:
Starting at $25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Duties

  • Operate heavy equipment such as graders, bulldozers, loaders, and excavators
  • Perform rough and fine grading based on plans and project requirements
  • Read and interpret grade stakes, blueprints, and job specifications
  • Maintain proper slopes, drainage, and elevations
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete required documentation
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, minor adjustments)
  • Communicate with supervisors and crew members to coordinate work
  • Follow all company safety policies and site-specific safety requirements
  • Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions
  • Assist with additional job site duties as needed

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience operating heavy grading equipment
  • Proven ability to operate equipment safely and accurately
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and grade stakes
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Experience with rail construction equipment is a plus
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
  • FRA certification required when applicable
  • CDL is a plus
