Mainframe Developer

Engineering Industries eXcellence are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL2 and DB2 to support development and maintenance activities in an enterprise mainframe environment. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in developing, enhancing, and supporting batch and online applications, preferably within banking or financial services domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using COBOL2
• Work extensively with DB2 databases for data processing and query optimization
• Develop and modify batch and online programs in mainframe environments
• Perform impact analysis and implement change requests
• Debug and resolve production issues
• Optimize performance of DB2 queries and programs
• Prepare technical documentation and unit test cases
• Collaborate with business analysts and cross-functional teams
• Participate in system testing (SIT/UAT) and deployment activities
• Ensure adherence to coding standards and enterprise security policies

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in COBOL2 development
• Solid experience working with DB2
• Experience in JCL (Job Control Language)
• Understanding of mainframe utilities and batch processing
• Experience in production support and incident resolution
• Strong debugging and analytical skills
• Familiarity with version control tools used in mainframe environments

Good to Have

• Experience in Banking / Financial Services domain
• Knowledge of CICS (if applicable)
• Exposure to migration or modernization projects
• Experience working in Agile environments

Experience Required

• 4–8 years of experience in Mainframe development
• Proven hands-on project experience in COBOL and DB2-based systems

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
