Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in software engineering organizations, including managing managers, team leads, and senior individual contributors across multiple teams

An industry leader and with a focus on the unique needs of Canadian based auto dealers, D2C Media has the experience and uses the most recent technologies unifying the car buying and selling experience. As a Senior  Engineering Manager, you'll guide an autonomous team that owns several high-throughput, API-first services and an end-user web application that serves our dealer customers

As a Senior Engineering Manager  on our D2C Team, you will help revitalize our customer-facing tooling across our platform with a comprehensive technical strategy to simplify and amplify these user experiences and the capabilities they enable.   • Lead and manage a team of technology professionals, including developers, engineers, and architects, to ensure the successful execution of technology projects and initiatives.

  • Drive planning, prioritization, staffing, and execution across multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Guide architectural decisions across legacy and modern platforms, balancing speed, stability, technical debt, and long-term scalability.

  • Lead modernization efforts for web platforms, APIs, integrations, and development practices.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, career development planning, succession planning, and talent calibration.

  • Work closely with our Security team to ensure secure coding practices remain a priority.

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions, systems, and infrastructure to support business operations, enhance customer experiences, and drive competitive advantage.

  • Provide strategic guidance and direction for the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify realistic use cases for AI across development, QA, support, operations, and internal productivity.

  • Establish guardrails for safe and compliant use of AI tools, including data handling, governance, review expectations, and ROI measurement.

We're excited about you because ....

  • You have a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • You have a proven track record of success in leadership roles within software engineering organizations, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Demonstrated success leading managers, team leads, and senior individual contributors across multiple teams.

  • Strong experience handling performance issues, coaching, hiring, retention, and organizational design.

  • Understanding of today's AI Eco System

  • Deep technical expertise across a broad range of technology domains, including software development, infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and emerging technologies.

  • Experience managing technology teams and projects, with a strong understanding of software development methodologies, quality assurance practices, and project management frameworks.

Bonus ..

  • Experience in the automotive industry.

  • Experience developing in PHP / NodeJS

  • Experience with Agentic Development

  • Experience managing teams working with legacy PHP platforms and modernizing them safely.

  • Experience with observability tooling, production monitoring, and incident management.

  • Experience with AI-assisted software development tools in a governed enterprise setting.

  • Experience in high-availability consumer-facing web platforms.

  • Bilingual in French and English.

 

 

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position. In addition to base salary, some roles are eligible for our bonus and/or equity programs, depending on level and role. Regular full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive benefits package. If you are hired at Cars Commerce, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills and/or experience. If the salary range is close to what you're seeking, then we encourage you to apply and learn more about the total compensation package for this position.

Salary Range

$105,500.00-131,900.00
