Why join us?:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join DWF and be part of a collaborative, professional and forwardthinking organisation.  We are seeking an experienced Claims Handler / Insurance Professional to join the Professional Indemnity Claims Team, known for its high standards of technical excellence, integrity and client service.

You’ll have the opportunity to manage a varied and engaging portfolio of professional indemnity claims, spanning a wide range of professions including solicitors, construction professionals, IFAs, accountants, surveyors and emerging sectors.  You’ll be trusted to deliver high‑quality, consistent claims handling, working with integrity and sound judgement throughout the lifecycle of each matter.

The role offers significant exposure to collaborative working, partnering closely with internal teams such as underwriters, actuaries and finance, while also building strong, constructive relationships with external clients including brokers and insurers.  You’ll be part of a highly collaborative team environment, contributing to shared business objectives and developing your expertise through cradle‑to‑grave claims handling within an insurance setting.

This role offers remote working, with occasional travel to a local office for client meetings or team collaboration as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Examine PI claims and meet agreed standards of accuracy, service, work volumes and other performance targets in line with client SLAs.
  • Review, investigate and evaluate claim notices, correspondence, investigative reports, and various technical documents to determine coverage, liability exposure, and resolution strategies.
  • Review and interpret policy wordings.
  • Settle claims directly with claimants or their representatives.
  • Administer claims payments/settlements through trust accounts.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure client's needs are met.
What will help you succeed in this role? :

Essential

  • Previous Claims experience in handling Professional Indemnity claims and understanding of insurance law and policy wordings.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and sound judgments, including review of data and other types of business information, trends and drawing supported conclusion based on the data. Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate in a collaborative environment yet independently manage a portfolio of claims.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently manage concurrent responsibilities.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to use initiative.

Desirable

  • Proficient with all Microsoft products particularly Excel. Knowledge of basic formulas and pivot tables with ability to manipulate and summarise data.
