📍 Remote (U.S.-based) | đź’Ľ Mid May-Sept 1st - 40 hours/wk | đź’° $35-$45/hr

We are presently looking for a Contract Graphic Designer.  This position is responsible for conceptualizing and designing digital assets across multiple properties while maintaining each property’s brand identity and mission. This position requires a highly creative person with good project management skills who can work through and manage fast paced projects from conception to production.



This position reports to the Head of Creative.

Scope of Work 

At the direction of the Head of Creative:

  • Create social-first design elements for stories on both a daily and long-lead basis across an array digital and social platforms as directed by the Head of Creative and on deadline
    • Specifically, creation of headline cards, story carousels, video thumbnails, hero images, etc. within each of the 10 newsrooms’ individual brand guidelines.
  • Create newsletter graphics such as banners, section headers, ads. as directed by the Head of Creative and on deadline
  • Keep up to date with changes in social platforms and incorporate data-based insights on performance into design decisions 
  • Maintain the individual brand identities of each property within a portfolio On a monthly basis, audit the individual brand identity of each property within our portfolio
  • Execute deliverables from concept through completion accurately and efficiently and delivered on time
  • Attend content planning meetings and brainstorm visual approaches to digital content as directed



The ideal candidate will have some of the following:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years in digital design capacity 
  • Strong experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign)
  • Experience working with Asana for project management a plus
  • Experience in both digital and print design a plus:
    • For digital, knowledge of appropriate graphic dimensions for social media and web design.
    • For print, knowledge of appropriate file set up and packaging for business cards, press passes, merchandise.
  • Experience working in Canva to build social media templates within each individual brand’s guidelines. Knowledge of Canva Enterprise is a plus.
  • Experience with Sailthru newsletter platform is a plus but not required.
  • Active on social media and up-to-date with emerging social creative trends, platforms and a sense for how design is evolving to meet those platforms 
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively change focus in a dynamic, flexible environment 
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and follow through is critical 
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to work against and meet deadlines
  • Ability to be a self-starter, and execute on projects
