Job Role: Technical Product Lead / Full-stack Developer
Compensation range: $2,500 AUD - $3,300 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: is a cloud-based risk management platform built for schools to plan and manage excursions, camps, and outdoor learning activities. The platform is positioned around ISO 31031 school trip safety requirements and ISO 27001-aligned security controls.
The platform operates as a cloud-based SaaS product with:
- React/Vue-based web and mobile interface
- AWS-hosted backend services using Node.js and Laravel
- Amazon RDS using PostgreSQL/MySQL
- AWS S3 storage
- AWS Cognito for authentication with MFA and SSO support
Hosting is based in the AWS Sydney Region to support Australian data residency requirements. However, the platform is expanding internationally and must support multiple AWS regions to meet localized data sovereignty compliance.

Role Overview: The Technical Product Lead will act as the in-house technical owner of the Xcursion platform, leading the transition from external development to internal capability.
This role combines hands-on engineering, product thinking, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will own the platform end-to-end, resolve issues directly, and help shape product direction, including AI and automation opportunities.
Cyber Security Requirements:
Strong practical understanding of secure cloud development is essential.
The platform operates with:
- TLS 1.3 encryption in transit
- AES-256 encryption at rest
- Role-based access control and multi-tenant architecture
- Secure authentication (SSO via Microsoft Entra ID and Google Workspace)
- Audit logging and monitoring (AWS CloudWatch, GuardDuty)
- ISO 27001-aligned security practices
The candidate must be able to assess risks, maintain secure coding practices, and ensure compliance with data protection expectations in a school-sector environment.
Ideal Candidate:
A senior hands-on technical operator who can:
- Take full ownership of an existing SaaS platform
- Work independently in a fast-moving environment
- Balance technical depth with product and commercial thinking
- Make fast, practical decisions under pressure
- Support scaling toward a more mature in-house engineering capability
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end SaaS platform (frontend, backend, database, integrations, deployments)
- Lead technical transition from external developers (codebase, architecture, documentation, deployment)
- Diagnose and resolve bugs and production issues independently
- Align technical decisions with product goals, customer needs, and business priorities
- Contribute to roadmap planning and feature prioritisation
- Improve system performance, reliability, code quality, and engineering standards
- Identify and implement AI-driven and automation opportunities
- Strengthen documentation, release processes, and technical resilience
- Support internal systems integration (CRM, help desk, automation tools)
- Collaborate closely with leadership as technical advisor and execution partner
Requirements
- Strong experience in cloud-based SaaS environments
- Full-stack development capability (modern web applications)
- Strong AWS production experience
- Proficient in Node.js / JavaScript ecosystems
- Experience with Laravel/PHP systems (preferred)
- Frontend experience with React and/or Vue
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Proven ability to manage and improve existing codebases
- Strong debugging and incident response capability
- Ability to link technical decisions to business and user outcomes
- Experience in roadmap planning or product-led environments
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity and secure architecture
- Experience with SSO and identity systems (Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace)
- Experience with integrations (Wonde, Clipboard, enterprise/school systems)
- Exposure to AI, automation, or intelligent workflow systems (highly regarded)
