About the job

We are Fool's Theory, a company from Bielsko-Biała in Poland, creators of the game Seven: The Days Long Gone and The Thaumaturge.

We are actively seeking skilled individuals to join our team to work on an unannounced project developed in cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED.

Responsibilities

  • Creating high-quality foliage assets of various types (trees - both coniferous and deciduous, shrubs, grasses, mosses, lichens, etc.).

  • Conducting in-depth research on different biomes.

  • Collaborating with Environment Art, Tech Art and Lighting departments to create consistent and high quality assets.

  • Planning and working with scanned photogrammetry data.

  • Creating realistic and high-quality textures/materials using tools such as Substance Designer, Substance Painter (when scans are unachievable).

  • Preparing meshes and integrating scanned assets into the prop library (especially foliage-related assets).

  • Working closely with the Art Director and Environment Art Lead to achieve a consistent visual direction for all the biomes/foliage assets.

  • Creating documentation to support workflows and pipelines.

  • Mentoring and guiding fellow artists to foster team growth.

  • Maintaining the production pipeline and meeting deadlines.

  • Working with the production team on scope and scheduling.

  • Creating and maintaining a foliage library/gym.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant industry experience (5 years for Senior level).

  • A keen eye for nature - its beauty, colours, shape, details.

  • Strong skills in foliage creation software - SpeedTree.

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or equivalent tools.

  • Experience with Substance Designer and Substance Painter.

  • Solid skills in one major modeling package (3DS Max, Maya, Blender etc.).

  • Good knowledge of Zbrush.

  • Strong understanding of physically based rendering practices (PBR).

  • Experience with the Photogrammetry asset creation workflow.

  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5 (including Nanite and Lumen).

  • A strong passion and eye for foliage.

  • Fluency in English.

Nice to have

  • A classical art background is an advantage.
