VP of Engineering

Job description

Description

Job Summary: The VP of Engineering is a senior executive role within ProCrewz responsible for setting and executing the technical vision of the engineering organization. Reporting directly to the CTO, this leader brings deep architecture expertise and a proven record of engineering excellence at scale — having led teams through significant platform evolution and periods of organizational scale. The VP of Engineering will own delivery performance, engineering culture, and architectural integrity across a pod-based Salesforce engineering team, while partnering with the CTO to drive the long-term technical roadmap for a PE-backed, high-growth platform serving the live events markets. This position is available for remote work.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Own engineering delivery, team health, and organizational performance across ProCrewz's pod-based structure covering Scheduling, Event Execution, Payroll & Invoicing, Pricing & Quoting, Mobile, and QA
  • Define and enforce architecture standards spanning service architecture, API design, scalability, latency, and reliability — ensuring the platform can support ProCrewz's growth trajectory
  • Lead engineering excellence initiatives: establish and mature SDLC practices, code quality standards, CI/CD via Gearset, sandbox governance, and test automation via AccelQ
  • Partner with the CTO on platform architecture decisions, pattern evaluation, technical debt strategy, and build/buy/configure tradeoffs
  • Recruit, develop, and retain senior engineering talent; build a high-performance engineering culture with clear standards and accountability
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for cross-pod delivery risk, architectural decisions, and engineering blockers
  • Drive insourcing and organizational stabilization of the engineering team, including onboarding and integrating transitioning engineers
  • Manage offshore QA resources and third-party integration partners in coordination with the CTO
  • Contribute to PE board-level reporting on engineering capacity, velocity, platform scalability, and roadmap progress
  • Lead engineering workstreams supporting acquisition integrations and multi-brand platform convergence
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline; advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or MBA) preferred
  • 10–15+ years of progressive technical experience, with a significant portion in senior engineering leadership roles (Director, VP, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated track record of engineering leadership and cross-functional collaboration in organizations of meaningful scale, with progressively senior roles over 10–15+ years
  • Deep architecture expertise: service architecture, API design, scalability, latency, reliability, and pattern recognition and evaluation
  • Proven experience implementing and maturing engineering excellence methodologies — SDLC, agile delivery, code quality, CI/CD, and QA automation at scale
  • Strong Salesforce platform knowledge (Apex, LWC, integrations, data model); hands-on background required
  • Experience leading organizational change, including insourcing or transitioning engineering capacity from third-party vendors
  • Excellent executive communication skills; comfortable presenting technical strategy to C-suite, board, and PE stakeholders
  • Salesforce certifications (Application Architect, System Architect, or equivalent) (Preferred)
  • Background in HCM, staffing, workforce management, or labor compliance platforms (Preferred)
  • Experience in PE-backed, high-growth, or multi-brand technology environments (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with live events, entertainment, sports, media, or production industries (Preferred)
  • Experience managing distributed or offshore engineering teams across multiple time zones (Preferred)
