Senior Product Designer

Job description

Imagine yourself…

...Doing meaningful work that makes an everyday impact on the world around you.

...Joining a company with a proven track record of success and an exciting future.

...Contributing to a brighter, more sustainable future.

It’s all possible with a role at Esko. Esko, a Veralto company, is a global provider of integrated software and hardware solutions that accelerate the go-to-market process of packaged goods. Our integrated platform and comprehensive tools empower retailers, pre-media and trade shops, manufacturers, and converters to manage best-in-class packaging design and print processes.

Innovation in the is built into the DNA of our business: every day, we challenge ourselves to be better by seeking out new ways to elevate our products, our processes, and our people.

We also know that innovation and ingenuity starts with prioritizing a diverse workforce and a deeply inclusive workplace. We encourage people from all backgrounds to apply to our positions.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who enjoys solving complex problems and designing products that truly work for real users, especially in technically rich, professional software environments. You don’t start with screens. You start with questions. You dig into what problem we’re solving, who it’s for, and why it matters. You keep the user front and center, even when the product is complex or constrained by technical realities. And you’re comfortable explaining and defending your design decisions to product managers and R&D partners. You’ll work according to our product operating model and be a full member of the Product Trio (Product, Design, Engineering). Design is not a service role here; you are an equal partner in shaping direction, making trade‑offs, and delivering value. The position can be hybrid or remote, with strong preference for Ghent as a location.

In this role, your responsibilities will look like:

Shaping problems and solutions

  • Lead design work from early discovery and problem framing through to validated solutions.

  • Ask strong, relevant questions that help teams focus on the right problems.

  • Translate complex workflows and technical constraints into clear, usable experiences.

Collaborating in the Product Trio

  • Work closely with product management and R&D as an equal design partner.

  • Clearly explain why design decisions are made, including trade‑offs and constraints.

  • Advocate for users while balancing business goals and technical feasibility.

Designing at platform level

  • Think beyond a single feature or product and design with the broader platform in mind.

  • Look for reuse, consistency, and patterns that scale across multiple products and teams.

  • Help ensure experiences across the platform feel connected, coherent, and intentional.

Creating and iterating designs

  • Design flows, wireframes, high-fidelity‑ screens, and interactive prototypes.

  • Work comfortably in Figma, including components, auto layout‑, variants, and shared libraries.

  • Test ideas early, gather feedback, and iterate based on learning, not just opinions.

  • Apply strong visual design skills (layout, typography, hierarchy, and detail) to help communicate concepts clearly and convincingly.

Using AI in a responsible, practical way

  • Actively use AI in your design process to make you more effective and efficient (for example: rapid prototyping, exploring alternatives, summarizing input, or pressure testing‑ ideas).

  • Treat AI as a support tool, not a replacement for human judgement, design thinking, or user empathy.

  • Make conscious decisions about when AI adds value and when it doesn’t.

  • Help normalize thoughtful, transparent use of AI in design, focused on speed, exploration, and learning, while keeping decisions human led‑.

Contributing to the design system

  • Apply the design system consistently in your product work.

  • Contribute to the system when new components, patterns, or improvements are needed.

  • Work closely with other designers and engineers to ensure the system is practical, usable, and adopted.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Proven 7+ years of experience designing software products, ideally SaaS or other technically complex tools.

  • Educational background in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field or equal through experience

  • Strong visual design skills (layout, typography, hierarchy, and detail) that help communicate and support concepts.

  • Strong experience with Figma, including shared libraries, reusable components, and understanding how design decisions scale across multiple products and teams

  • Experience using and contributing to a design system.

Why work with us

You’ll work on meaningful, complex products used by professionals worldwide. You’ll be part of a team that values strong product thinking, clear design reasoning, and open collaboration within the Product Trio. We also actively explore how AI can help us work smarter, without losing sight of the human responsibility behind our decisions.

We welcome people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. If this role sounds interesting to you, we encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet every single requirement.

Esko is proud to part of the Product Quality & Innovation segment of Veralto (NYSE: VLTO), a $5B global leader dedicated to ensuring access to clean water, safe food and medicine, and trusted essential goods.

When you join Veralto’s vibrant global network of 17,000 associates, you join a unique culture and work environment where purpose meets possibility: where the work you do has an everyday impact on the resources and essentials we all rely on, and where you’ll have valuable opportunities to deepen your skillset, pursue your ambitions, and grow your career.
