Job description

Now Hiring: Human Resources Manager (30 hr week, Remote – Detroit Area) | Young Basile

A flexible, high impact way to apply your years of HR experience in a cutting-edge setting. At Young Basile, we believe a well-run firm depends on thoughtful systems, strong relationships, and a culture where people have the freedom to do their best work. We’re looking for an experienced HR professional who wants to operate at a high level—without the demands of a full-time role.

Who are we?

Young Basile is a nationally recognized IP law firm providing strategic advising to the most innovative companies in the world. At a time of massive change and innovation across software, automotive, electronics, and deep tech industries, our work is complex, essential and influential.

Teamwork isn’t just a platitude on the wall - our team supports one another, celebrates each person and comes together to solve problems. We deliver excellence because our team is devoted to building each other up and ensuring our clients are successful. We believe respect comes first regardless of title. The most important part of our culture is that every decision is made with integrity no matter how small.

As we continue to grow, this HR Manager role is critical in ensuring our people systems, employee experience, and internal operations scale thoughtfully—without losing the strong culture that makes our firm a place where people stay for decades

The Role

This role is designed for a senior HR professional seeking a flexible position with meaningful ownership and direct contact with firm leadership.

You’ll serve as the firm’s primary HR resource—supporting 50+ attorneys and patent professionals, and 30+ staff for all HR needs—while bringing structure, consistency, and sound judgment to employee relations, HR systems, and core operations.

You understand the nuances of a partner-led, technology-focused law firm environment and are happiest operating independently while influencing at a senior level as needed.

The Ideal Candidate

You are the kind of HR professional who takes pride in optimizing systems for maximum efficiency and ease-of use. Your years of HR experience have shown you that most people issues are system issues—and you know how to address both types of issues professionally and with discretion.

You take initiative and follow through without being asked, and communicate clearly and proactively with senior stakeholders. You’re comfortable working independently, but naturally collaborative when it matters.

You take pride in making sure no detail falls through the cracks. It brings you joy to mediate employee issues gracefully.

This role is ideal for someone who wants flexibility without sacrificing impact—and who is looking to apply their years of knowledge and expertise to make a real difference in a growing firm.

  • Own recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding processes for staff
  • Partner with leadership on recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding for attorneys

  • Solid understanding of employment law and HR compliance
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight in a partner-led environment
