Developer (Integration) - Intermediate or Senior

Job description

Position:  Developer - Intermediate and Senior level people considered

Datacom Location:  Anywhere in Australia

Security Requirements: Australian citizens only to be able to obtain security clearances (NV1 preferred if you already have).

Full Time, Permanent Position.

Our Why
Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.

About the Role (your why)
As part of our Integration Development team, the Developer (Integration) is a key contributor responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust integrations and application software. You will independently own features and components, translating business requirements into maintainable code, and actively contribute to improving our code quality and processes. You’ll collaborate with team members, project leads, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business needs while mentoring junior developers along the way.

We are open to hiring either an intermediate or senior level person depending the candidate so if you at either of those levels, please do apply.

Our offices are based all around Australia but we are open to you being fully remote if you don't live near one of them. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work–life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!

Note that only Australian citizens will be considered (not residents or permanent residents or visa holders) due to the need to be able to gain security clearances for our client. Anyone with a current clearance (Baseline, NV1, NV2) will be preferred.

What You’ll Do
As Intermediate Developer – Integration, you will be focused on:

  • Participating in the full development lifecycle, including analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of application integrations.
  • Developing and maintaining coded business logic for assigned integration features while adhering to best practices.
  • Reviewing code and providing constructive feedback to ensure high standards are met.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure solutions align with business needs.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving defects of moderate to high complexity.
  • Mentoring Associate Developers and contributing to technical documentation.
  • Monitoring integration performance and suggesting improvements.

We are a pretty agile company and are keen to respond to customer, technology, and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements, which can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What You’ll Bring

Required experience:

  • 3–5 years minimum of professional software development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of software development principles, common design patterns, and integration best practices.
  • Proficiency in one or more major programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Visual Basic, XML).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with a major relational database (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Exposure/experience with iPaas platforms such as Jitterbit/Boomi, Javascript and any other development languages/code. Integration specific experience would be advantageous
  • Experience deploying and maintaining applications in production environments.
  • Experience in agile environments and with DevOps tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, containerization).
  • Confident in direct customer engagement/solutioning.

Nice to have:

  • Relevant industry certifications in development platforms.
  • Experience with performance monitoring techniques and tools.
