Description

As a Manager, Software Engineering you are a technical leader that works across all functions of Stax’s technology team to ensure that the software development lifecycle (SDLC) is running efficiently, predictably, and for the benefit of the company and its employees. You will own the technical delivery of new features, capabilities, and releases of the Stax platform. 

You should be collaborative and able to build consensus among people from different functional areas of the organization. You will bring equal parts creativity and analytical rigor to the table and deploy these talents toward achieving product development and team goals. Your technical experience lends credibility as you establish architectural guidelines for a high volume, highly reliable, distributed system.


Key Responsibilities & Objectives 

  • Effectively manage both internal and outsourced engineers across multiple development channels. 
  • Proactively identify and address roadblocks, ensuring clear and transparent communication of expectations. 
  • Lead the software development phase of the SDLC, collaborating closely with QA, product, and development leads to formulate release strategies and manage technical dependencies. 
  • Conduct daily standup meetings with development leads and actively engage in retrospectives, taking ownership of relevant action items. 
  • Collaborate with the product team to ensure well-documented user stories, setting up team members for success. 
  • Define, establish, and regularly report on business-impactful metrics, encompassing sprint completion and defect rates, among others. 
  • Suggest and implement measurable improvements to the Software Development Lifecycle. 
Requirements
  • Experience leading software engineering teams to achieve ambitious objectives
  • Exceptional organizational skills to streamline project workflows and priorities. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Track record of nurturing talent, fostering growth, and building high-performing teams. ? Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools to generate insightful reports. 
  • Experience with JIRA or similar issue tracking systems.
  • In-depth understanding of Software Development Lifecycle and methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, Waterfall). 
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and technical acumen to address complex engineering challenges and guide teams effectively. 
  • Adaptable and responsive to organizational changes, ensuring a smooth transition for the engineering team. 



Nice to Haves 

  • Project management certifications (PMP, CSM, ASI or the like) 
  • Previous experience working in engineering leadership or senior individual contributor roles. 
  • AWS cloud certifications.
  • Fintech / Payments industry experience
  • Golang experience
