About the Role
We are looking for a proactive Bookkeeper / Financial Controller to manage the financial operations of a Dublin-based e-commerce brand. This is a critical role bridging high-volume transaction management in Shopify with senior-level financial reporting and Irish statutory compliance in Xero.
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR BOOKKEEPER /FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
Responsibilities as a Bookkeeper /Financial Controller:
• Irish & International E-commerce Accounting
o Reconcile daily Shopify payouts with bank deposits in Xero, ensuring accurate accounting for merchant fees and refunds.
o Manage multi-currency reconciliations (EUR, GBP, USD) and monitor exchange rate impacts.
o Maintain automated data flows from Shopify to Xero using tools like A2X or Link My Books.
• Irish Tax & Compliance
o Prepare and file Irish VAT returns (Bi-monthly/Quarterly) via ROS, ensuring compliance with Revenue regulations.
o Manage Postponed VAT Accounting (PVA) for inventory imports post-Brexit and monitor VIES/Intrastat reporting where applicable.
o Oversee EORI and customs duty reconciliations for goods entering Ireland/EU.
• Financial Control & Analysis
o Produce monthly Management Accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for the Irish leadership team.
o Conduct Product Margin Analysis and monitor ad-spend efficiency (ROAS) in collaboration with the marketing team.
o Maintain the fixed asset register and manage accruals and prepayments.
• Operations & Payroll
o Manage Accounts Payable, ensuring timely vendor payments and expense tracking via Dext/Hubdoc.
o Oversee month-end close procedures and year-end audit preparation in line with Irish GAAP.
Qualifications as a Bookkeeper /Financial Controller:
• Experience: 1–3 years in e-commerce bookkeeping, ideally within the Irish or EU market.
• Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Xero and Shopify.
• Irish Tax Knowledge: Solid understanding of Irish VAT rules, including domestic rates and EU cross-border "Place of Supply" rules.
• Technical Skills: Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs). Knowledge of Irish Payroll (PAYE Modernisation) and Automatic Enrolment prep is a significant plus.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal English, comfortable presenting financial data to Irish stakeholders.
