OCH Technologies is seeking a Principal Database Developer for a position supporting the FAA’s NAS Defense Program. The Principal Database Developer will provide database development, documentation, and data analysis to support the mission of the FAA.

Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead the design, development and maintenance of Oracle database schemas supporting GIS web applications.
- Collaborate with developers to design and implement efficient spatial data models.
- Develop complex PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
- Implement data security, backup, and recovery strategies aligned with enterprise standards.
- Model and manage incoming spatial data feeds.
- Develop complex SQL and PL/SQL queries, procedures, functions, and packages for business logic and spatial processing.
- Support Technical and Maintenance activities including security and deficiency assessments, resolution of technical issues affecting system performance, architecture development and system modernization recommendations.
- Information System Security Support including development of system documentation for security authorization, FAA Security Order compliance, cost analysis for security risk mitigation, and security documentation updates.
- Develop System Documentation including System Design Documents, Software Architecture documentation, Diagrams, etc.
- Requirements gathering, testing, and providing configuration management including software release management, automated pipeline support, and containerization support.
- Develop and manage ETL workflows for ingesting and transforming geospatial and attribute data.
- Support application development teams with database access, views, and APIs.
- Provide guidance to team members and facilitate cross-group coordination and collaboration.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality.
- Design, implement and support new features and services.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and performance issues.
- Participate in technical planning and roadmap discussions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Drive innovation and advocate for technological improvements.
Responsibilities may evolve over time to support team and organizational goals, but will remain consistent with the overall scope of the role.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field
Experience:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience
- Extensive experience in Oracle 19c, PL/SQL, and performance tuning
- Experience using Liquibase (or similar tools) to track, manage, and deploy database schema changes across different environments
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration, including shell scripting (Bash) for database maintenance, performance monitoring, and server-level troubleshooting
- Strong experience with data modeling for geospatial applications
- Experience integrating Oracle databases with web applications (RESTful APIs, Oracle REST Data Services
- Experience in container and framework technologies such as Docker, React, Next.js, and Nest
- Experience with Atlassian products including JIRA, Bitbucket, and Confluence
- Experience working on Agile/Scrum teams
Security Clearance Requirement
Candidate must have the ability to hold and maintain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance
- Experience with implementing and managing Oracle Data Guard for on-premises, site-to-site replication and manual switchover/failover for high availability and disaster recovery
- Ability to configure and manage Oracle TNS and connection strings to support seamless application transitions between primary and standby regions
Other Required Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Must have experience with geospatial data and analysis techniques.
- Provide expertise and assistance with proposal efforts.
