Senior Power BI Consultant

Job description

Who We Are

At Trility Consulting®, we’ve built a strong, remote-work culture where people thrive, grow, and support each other – earning us Great Place to Work® Certification. Headquartered in Central Iowa, we embrace flexible schedules and collaboration across geographically distributed teams serving clients from all corners of the United States and globally.

We seek team members with the grit necessary to forge paths where none previously existed, to get back up when circumstances knock them down, to adapt to the changing needs of the client even when it is uncomfortable, and to deliver on our commitments. Candidates must respect and value people, recognize that over-communication is barely good enough, thrive on solving complex problems, have a passion for building teams, and know that delivering what a client actually values is more important than their own predispositions. They understand value proposition, love delivering value, and take pride in learning the expansive and ever-changing business of clients. Candidates are self-motivated and relentlessly working to become more today than they were yesterday.

What You Will Do

Trility Consulting is seeking a Power BI Reporting Consultant who lives and breathes Power BI. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, can jump in midstream, and deliver high-quality reporting solutions with speed and precision.

You’ll partner closely with client stakeholders and internal teams to transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights. This engagement is highly hands-on — you’ll be expected to build, iterate, and optimize reports and dashboards while helping establish scalable standards within a modern Microsoft Fabric & PowerBI environment.

Beyond development, you’ll play a key role in helping the client mature their reporting capabilities by contributing to best practices, governance, and long-term sustainability.

This is a remote position with 1099 and W2 options.

At this time, Trility is only able to hire W2 employees who reside in the following states:Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Delaware, North Carolina, Ohio, and Utah.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and iterate on high-quality Power BI reports and dashboards at scale
  • Translate business requirements into intuitive, user-friendly visualizations
  • Develop and leverage semantic models to support reporting needs
  • Build reporting solutions against Snowflake data and optimize performance for high-usage scenarios
  • Implement row-level security (RLS) and contribute to scalable, governed data access patterns
  • Assist in establishing deployment pipelines and promotion processes across development, testing, and production environments
  • Help define and implement best practices for report development, organization, and governance
  • Build and support automation workflows to replicate legacy reporting processes (e.g., scheduled delivery, data blending)
  • Partner closely with client teams through collaborative working sessions and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to documentation, reusable patterns, and migration playbooks to support long-term client self-sufficiency

  • What You Bring
  • Strong, hands-on Power BI expertise — someone who truly operates in the “Power BI universe”
  • Proven ability to build high-quality reports quickly without sacrificing usability or performance
  • Deep understanding of the Power BI development lifecycle (development through deployment)
  • Experience with DAX, Power Query, and data modeling best practices to support scalable, high-performance reporting solutions
  • Experience working with Microsoft Fabric, including semantic models, capacities, and workspace management
  • Ability to develop reporting solutions against Snowflake data sources and optimize performance
  • Experience implementing row-level security (RLS) and establishing secure data access patterns
  • Familiarity with Direct Lake and modern Fabric capabilities is a plus
  • Experience supporting or contributing to reporting or platform migrations is highly preferred
  • Comfortable working in agile, client-facing consulting environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • How We Put You First
Trility’s culture is built upon the journey, character, and work ethic of our team members. We are a team of honorable and professional lifelong learners who work together to solve problems proactively.

    • Work remotely anywhere in the United States with flexible work hours
    • Paid time-off, company holidays, and floating holidays
    • Comprehensive benefits with contributions toward premiums
    • 401(k) plan
    • Sponsored and supported learning opportunities

    Job Requirements
    • Must reside within the United States
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
    • Must be able to pass a background check
