BigQuery Omni Engineer
San Jose, CA - Remote

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills:
  • Java / J2EE, C++ / C#
  • Interfacing with Cloud Services, Cloud

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Support BigQuery Omni, an external-facing BigQuery Multi Cloud product, by handling OnCall issues and improving internal processes, including deployments and testing.
  • Reduce oncall toil, which includes:
  • Daily inspection of Omni bugs, AWS/Azure pushers, and component releases during working hours.
  • Solving common issues (e.g., retries from transient deployment failures, unlock annealing).
  • Documenting initial investigations in bugs and routing them to the appropriate team (Infra team owner, other BQ team, or Infra oncall).
  • Owning ongoing interactions with routed teams.
  • Perform periodic tasks and audits.
  • Drive documentation improvements, including creating and refactoring documentation as part of the learning process.
