Master Scheduler

Job description

About MC&I

Mission Critical & Industrials (MC&I) is a growing consulting and engineering arm of NEI focused on the design and delivery of complex electrical infrastructure for demanding environments, including data centers, oil & gas operations and large-scale commercial and industrial facilities. MC&I supports high-impact infrastructure projects for clients, some of whom rank in the top ten of their respective industry segments across North America. The group combines the momentum of a team that is actively building with the stability of an established firm with more than 40 years of industry presence and over 300 engineers. Team Members remain engaged across the full project lifecycle, from early concept and planning through detailed design and execution support. The work emphasizes sound judgment, strong client relationships, and practical business thinking. MC&I offers an environment where Team Members can contribute ideas, build lasting professional relationships, and help shape a long-term legacy of engineering excellence.

About the Position

MC&I is seeking an experienced Master Scheduler to support project scheduling, resource forecasting, and schedule alignment across our electrical engineering consulting portfolio.

This role is responsible for building and maintaining integrated, resource-loaded project schedules and ensuring alignment between project plans, resource forecasts, and financial projections within a Deltek Vantagepoint environment.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a Master Scheduler, Project Controls Scheduler, or equivalent within an engineering or AEC consulting firm and understands how consulting work is planned, staffed, and forecasted in a project-based delivery model.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market. Compensation is based on experience and demonstrated impact in similar executive support and operational coordination roles.

Key Responsibilities

Master Scheduling & Portfolio Integration

  • Develop and maintain integrated, multi-project master schedules across an engineering consulting portfolio

  • Build and maintain resource-loaded schedules aligned with consulting delivery models (discipline, skill level, billable vs. non-billable effort)

  • Ensure schedules reflect scope, sequencing, and dependencies and support accurate forecasting and revenue planning

  • Maintain consistency and integrity of scheduling data across projects

Resource Planning & Utilization Management

  • Perform short- and long-term capacity and utilization planning across engineering and project teams

  • Identify resource constraints, overallocations, and skill gaps impacting delivery and utilization

  • Provide accurate scheduling data and forecasts to support staffing and workload planning

  • Partner with Project Managers and Engineering Leaders to keep schedules and resource plans aligned with project changes

Forecast Alignment & Project Controls

  • Align project schedules with financial forecasts, including ETC/EAC, labor planning, and utilization

  • Maintain consistency between planned work, resource allocation, and financial projections

  • Track critical paths, milestones, schedule variance, and risks; support updates and recovery planning

  • Support implementation and consistent application of scheduling standards and project controls practices

Reporting & Forecast Support

  • Produce reporting on capacity vs. demand, utilization outlook, and schedule health

  • Support scenario and what-if analysis through schedule and forecast updates

  • Ensure reporting is accurate, consistent, and aligned for leadership review

  • Surface data gaps, inconsistencies, and risks impacting planning and delivery

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 7–10+ years of experience in master scheduling, project controls, or resource planning

  • Prior experience within an engineering, AEC, or professional services consulting firm (required)

  • Experience as a Master Scheduler, Project Controls Scheduler, or equivalent role

  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, including ETC/EAC, labor planning, and utilization forecasting

  • Advanced proficiency in Smartsheet, MS Project, Primavera, or similar scheduling tools

  • Strong understanding of consulting delivery models (utilization, backlog, billability)

  • Experience building and maintaining resource-loaded schedules (not just timeline tracking)

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high data accuracy across systems

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting electrical engineering or technical consulting teams

  • Experience working across multi-project portfolios or complex program environments

  • Familiarity with portfolio-level forecasting, backlog management, and revenue planning

  • Exposure to broader project controls practices (cost, risk, or performance tracking)

Work Environment

  • This position is fully remote and may be structured as full-time or part-time for the right candidate, based on experience and organizational needs.
