OSC EdgeTech, LLC is seeking a talented Junior Linux Systems Administrator to join the team.

Cook Inlet Region, Inc., also known as CIRI, is one of 12 land-based Alaska Native regional corporations created pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Junior Linux Systems Administrator to join our IT team. In this entry-level role, you will assist in the administration, maintenance, and support of our Linux server environments; to include performing such tasks as system monitoring, patching, basic troubleshooting, and user support.


This position is open to internal OSC EdgeTech employees only.  


Major Activities

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual Linux servers (e.g., RedHat, CentOS).
  • Support routine server patching, software updates, and backups to ensure system integrity and security.
  • Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and network services, reporting on potential issues.
  • Provide initial support for service interruptions, troubleshoot technical issues, and escalate complex problems as needed.
  • Help manage user accounts and permissions, and assist with implementing basic system security measures.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and service requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities



  • Basic knowledge of Linux command line, file systems, and user management.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Basic experience with scripting for automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, KVM) or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Work independently, as well as on a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


Physical Abilities

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in confined rack spaces.
  • Sufficient fine motor skills for the use of computers with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time.
  • Visual and communications ability are adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in an IT support or system administration role.
  • Must hold a current Security+ Certification.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience in an IT Support or system administration role.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • CompTIA Linux+, LPIC-1, or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
  • Previous experience in a 24/7 government or military IT environment.
