MaryRuth’s is seeking a Retention Marketing Summer Intern to work with our Retention Marketing team, focusing on how we thoughtfully engage with our customers and make wellness feel approachable and built for real life. This role will contribute to advancing retention marketing and building lasting customer relationships across the customer lifecycle, from welcome messages to initiatives for long-term loyalty. The Retention Marketing intern will contribute to our full, multi-channel retention program, including email, SMS & RCS, in-app messaging, push notifications, direct mail, and subscriptions. This is a temporary (6/1/26 to 8/7/26), full-time, hourly, non-exempt, remote role. EST or CST hours are preferred.
Must be currently enrolled (as of 6/1/2026) in an academic program, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
Responsibilities
Support the creation, briefing, and quality analysis of campaigns across email and SMS.
Assist in building lifecycle flows (welcome, post-purchase, winback, and more).
Collaborate on campaign planning for launches, promotions, and seasonal initiatives.
Help analyze performance and pull insights from campaign and channel data.
Contribute to testing strategies to continuously improve engagement.
Support subscription-focused marketing initiatives.
Partner with cross-functional teams to build, manage, and improve campaigns.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Learning Objectives
Build a strong foundation in lifecycle and retention marketing strategy.
Gain comfort in executing full-cycle campaigns for new and returning customers.
Learn how to use leading platforms like Klaviyo, Postscript, Loop Subscriptions, Shopify, and Tableau.
Develop confidence in reading and understanding key metrics like Lifetime Value (LTV), retention trends, engagement, and subscription performance.
Understand how thoughtful, data-informed marketing can support company goals and long-term customer wellness journeys.
Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled (as of 6/1/2026) in an academic program, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, preferably with proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
Interested in gaining experience in eCommerce and marketing within a fast-paced, growing company.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including adapting communication styles to various audiences.
Able to work comfortably both independently and collaboratively.
Detail-oriented and organized, able to prioritize, and adaptable.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
This role involves sitting most of the time but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
