Multiple Cloud Solutions Architect

The Department’s primary technology stack includes Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and Azure DevOps.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Engage with business stakeholders to understand functional and non‑functional requirements and translate these into High‑Level Designs (HLDs) and Detailed‑Level Designs (DLDs) for Azure‑based solutions.
  
• Design and document end‑to‑end cloud architectures covering application, integration, data, networking, identity and security domains.
  
• Develop and apply reusable cloud and integration architecture patterns aligned with enterprise and whole‑of‑government standards.
  
• Provide architectural oversight and guidance throughout the delivery lifecycle, from discovery through to implementation and handover.
  
• Work closely with development teams and cloud engineers to support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture, cyber security and cloud operations teams to progress solutions through architecture assurance and design approval processes.
  
• Ensure all designs comply with Australian Government cyber security requirements, including the Information Security Manual (ISM), Essential Eight maturity levels and OWASP principles.
  
• Clearly communicate architectural decisions, risks and trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders using diagrams, models and concise written documentation.
  

Essenial Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer or Solution Architect, preferably within a federal government environment.
  
• Strong experience designing Azure‑based solutions and producing high‑quality HLD and DLD documentation.
  
• Hands‑on experience implementing and administering Azure cloud services.
  
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Azure DevOps pipelines.
  
• Knowledge of Azure networking, including virtual networks, hybrid connectivity and cloud‑native ingress patterns.
  
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, including enterprise architects, cyber security teams and cloud operations.
  
• Sound understanding of information security frameworks, including the ISM, Essential Eight and secure‑by‑design principles.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience across a broad range of cloud technologies, including Azure AI, Machine Learning and Cognitive Services, data platforms, integration services, APIs and service‑oriented architectures.
  
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments with minimal supervision.
