POSITION TITLE: Lead Audio Operator, TTS

LOCATION: Burbank, CA

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Position Overview

The TTS Audio Operator facilitates various audio recording, editorial and production tasks specific to both multi-language data collection initiatives and active client orders in the localization and accessibility space. This technical position requires a high level of focus on audio detail and process, and sits at a unique intersection of audio production, vocal performance and technology integration. The ideal candidate is motivated by new and evolving production processes, emerging technologies and forward-thinking Ai-integrated media workflows.

As the TTS Lead Audio Operator, this role facilitates additional coordination, training, mentorship and team oversight across TTS Audio collection and production operations to continually enhance and evolve technical workflows and optimize operator performance. Providing guidance for work-type delegation, monitoring progress against department goals, and taking ownership of technical workflow oversight are key responsibilities of the Lead Audio Operator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical leadership and performance feedback; set best practices and standards across audio production and packaging.
  • Perform various audio editorial and QC duties across multiple Deluxe workflows/projects:
  • Dialogue editorial of voice recordings
  • Audio QC of vendor delivered and internally recorded audio files
  • Packaging app processing of all assigned audio files
  • Processing ‘For Review’ files as needed
  • Managing all assigned audio assets and language inventories for TTS data collection operations
  • Ensure a solid technical understanding of dialogue editorial, processing and EQ for voice recording.
  • Maintain a strong technical grasp of quality control for voice recordings, voice performance and TTS project requirements.
  • Master all required tools and platforms across Deluxe and external client or vendor systems.
  • Perform audio engineer duties with in-studio and/or remote recording sessions where needed; collaborating with directors, performers and creative supervisors.
  • Be adept at quickly learning new tools and environments related to audio and postproduction, specifically in the text-to-speech, localization and accessibility spaces.
  • Operate internal and external Ai TTS voice generation tools for localization and audio description projects, including analyzing and editing text for appropriate dubbing adaptation and AD description.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure the quality of all projects meet client and industry standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams and departments, promptly responding to project requests and ensuring timely delivery while adhering to deadlines and style guidelines.
  • Stay informed about the latest standards, changes, and trends in the industry, as well as the latest technologies and tools.
  • Monitor department trackers and timelines to ensure deliveries are completed on-time and project expectations are met.
  • Complete other production-related duties as assigned at the discretion of management.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of audio postproduction experience, audio degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Avid Pro Tools required, competency with industry audio plugins a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of technical audio postproduction workflows and studio specifications focused on voice production and media localization.
  • Proficiency with recording prompting software and cloud recording platforms a plus.
  • Experience participating in dubbing and/or creative recording sessions desired.
  • Familiarity with TTS, ASR, MTPE, LLMs workflows a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, nuance and file management.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Competency in word processor and spreadsheet software (Office, GSuite, etc.).
  • Comfortability in an iterative fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts and weekends if needed.
  • Self-starter, problem-solver; strong collaborative mindset with a focus on teamwork.
  • Curiosity, openness and passion for Ai technologies and production workflows required.

This is not a remote working opportunity. The TTS Audio Operator is required to work in-person and onsite business hours Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a studio office environment engaging with creative, administrative and production teams, as well as collaborating with Deluxe teams working in various capacities globally.

This role is based in Burbank, CA and the base pay range for this role is $38 – $43 per hour. Actual amounts will vary depending on education, skills, experience, and geographic location.
