Position Summary

The Senior Advisor, Consultant Strategy is a strategic business development role focused on accelerating Evernorth’s Health Services business through our consultant firm relationships.  The Senior Advisor will aggressively pursue new business opportunities through our firm partners and strategic business alliances that are in line with the company's long-range goals.  

This person will develop firm-specific business plans and initiatives, growing our relationship footprint within target firms and expanding business opportunities through consultant channels.  This position will regularly collaborate with internal and external senior leaders to understand strategic business priorities and develop consultant-specific strategies to drive results aligned with those priorities.  

This person will be widely recognized as an expert voice of the market within the company, bringing critical external insights into our organization to influence our product roadmaps, marketing plans and overall growth strategies. 

Functions and Responsibilities

The primary function of the Senior Advisor is to develop business development strategies and drive product growth results through Evernorth’s most important consultant firms and their key practices.  This person will proactively and assertively build relationships with key consultants nationally across the health services consulting landscape to assure understanding of specific firm approaches and consultant preferred partnerships with health services vendors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and promoting strong relationships in the consulting community to accelerate new product penetration for prioritized products.
  • Delivering the “voice of the market” into key Evernorth stakeholder groups and sharing valuable insights on consultant preferred solutions while monitoring consultant competitive landscape in health services
  • Educating internal teams by providing national and regional evaluation of consultant firm health & benefits and health management consulting structures
  • Regularly updating and engaging with executive senior leaders across Evernorth, Express Scripts, Cigna, and affiliated organizations providing actionable insights on health services consultant market dynamics
  • Prospecting and Relationship Development, Presentation Development and Delivery to consultant firms in conjunction with several internal partner teams as appropriate including but not limited to:
  • New Sales
  • Account Management
  • Evernorth product and innovation teams
  • Evernorth Sales Enablement & Operations
  • Marketing and communications
  • Other internal stakeholders impacting content and communications to consultant practices

Scope of Job and Key Priorities

  • Develop and execute strategies that make it easier for clients, prospects, and consultants to buy products from Evernorth. 
  • Build expanded and deepened consultant relationships and develop external forums for regular, specific, and actionable feedback/insights from consultants on our products, roadmaps, and their clients' biggest challenges. 
  • Ensure that that Evernorth product roadmaps are directly influenced by market insights and consultant feedback. 
  • Contribute to the build of a robust product upsell pipeline and continually refine/enrich pipeline by working closely with Sales, Account Teams, Product, and other teams as appropriate. 
  • Share market insights with Evernorth leadership teams and update those teams on the actions taken to address those insights. 
  • Develop a deep understanding of prioritized Evernorth products and roadmaps.
  • Maximize cross-enterprise capabilities to ensure Evernorth Consultant Strategy is optimally leveraging support from other teams such as marketing, sales enablement, sales operations, data/analytics, competitive intelligence, and other consultant strategy teams. 

Qualifications

  • Several years’ relevant experience in a product, sales, business development, strategy, consulting and/or client service role. 
  • Clinical experience/pharmacist background is preferred but not required; a strong ability to speak to the clinical details of our programs will be essential
  • Proven track record of building new relationships in a complex business-to-business selling environment
  • Strong financial skills including understanding of PBM and product economics as well as contracting strategies to support sales growth.
  • The ability to influence decision makers across the enterprise including senior leaders.   
  • A self-directed ability to use proper judgment to plan, prioritize, and accomplish goals
  • Ability to create and execute strategic plans for assigned firms based on key metrics and market dynamics
  • Leadership skills, team-orientation, a proactive management style and a growth mindset
  • Knowledge of employee benefits and PBM marketplace
  • Strategic approach to consultant relationship management; applies best practices across consultant relationships
  • Highly effective cross-functional collaboration to drive process, strategy & consultant satisfaction
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with a diverse stakeholder group. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational/prioritization skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 130,100 - 216,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
