Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Software AG ADABAS to support a large-scale mainframe platform. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of ADABAS and related Software AG products, along with hands-on experience in performance tuning, database maintenance, and system integration within a mainframe environment.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
Manage and maintain 60+ ADABAS databases in a large-scale (9TB+) environment
Ensure database availability, integrity, and performance
System Integration
Support integration with:
ADABAS Security
Natural & Natural Security
Entire NetWork
AOS, Review
SQL Gateway
Performance Management
Monitor, analyze, and optimize performance across:
ADABAS
Natural
Entire NetWork
SQL Gateway
Backup & Recovery
Execute database backup, restore, and recovery procedures
Ensure compliance with disaster recovery standards
Software Maintenance
Perform upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance for Software AG products
Troubleshooting
Diagnose and resolve database, system, and performance issues
Provide support for user and application-related problems
Documentation
Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational guidelines
Required Technical Skills
ADABAS Database
Extensive hands-on experience with Software AG ADABAS administration
Natural
Proficiency in Natural programming language
Experience with Natural One and Natural Security
Mainframe Platform
Strong knowledge of IBM z/OS
Experience with TSO, TPX, and batch JCL
Related Software AG Products
ADABAS Security

Other Requirements
Willingness to provide on-call support
Preferred / Additional Skills
Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow
Familiarity with CA Broadcom mainframe tools:
Vantage, View, TPX, JCL Check, Sysview, NetMaster
Knowledge of CICS and related tools (e.g., Intercom)
Working knowledge of:
SQL, PL/I
Assembler (diagnostic or exposure level)
Work Environment
IBM z15 mainframe systems
Multiple LPARs
Enterprise-class storage systems
Candidate Requirements
