Job Overview

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to support a growing accounting team. This role plays a key part in executing the monthly close process, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations.

This is a full-time remote position operating on a Mountain Standard Time (MST) schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly Close Support

• Prepare and post journal entries (rebates, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, etc.)
• Assist in month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances
• Support preparation of financial reports

Day-to-Day Accounting

• Maintain accuracy of the general ledger
• Record and classify daily financial transactions
• Assist with accounts payable and expense tracking
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts

Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
• Support automation of accounting workflows
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2–5+ years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong understanding of month-end close and accrual accounting
• Experience with accounting systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
• Experience using QuickBooks Online
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in eCommerce or consumer goods industries
• Exposure to inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS)
• Prior experience working in a remote environment
