In this role, you will be at the forefront of product strategy and drive key aspects of customer experience and getting products to market on some of the world’s preeminent web services brands. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams in India, USA, Australia, Singapore, Phillippines, and Ukraine with the goal of reinforcing Newfold Digital’s status as the premier web-presence services provider worldwide.
What you’ll do & how you’ll make your mark.
Knows the product
- Lives and breaths the product, how it works, who uses it, when they use it, why they use it and understands the products’ limitations and impacts
- Content authority for product features and their value. Maintains a general understanding of the technology stack
- Keeps up to date on unfolding circumstances and changes to the technology, competitive, market, regulatory, etc. landscapes. And how those present opportunities or challenges for the product.
- Know who their customers are, their needs, motivations, what is most important to them and why
- Determines the value of new potential features, assessing them from the customer perspective and prioritizing the backlog accordingly
- Constantly seeks, gathers and interprets customer feedback via multiple channels
- Takes a data-driven approach to validate assumptions and identify opportunities based on patterns in the data for how their product is actually being used by customers
Product Vision and Strategy
- Possesses a deep understanding of the problem being addressed by the product or feature in order to communicate “the why”
- Sets the product vision, purpose, guiding principles, goals, and measures to achieve the goals. Motivates the team to take ownership and pride in what they develop towards achieving the vision.
- Connects the product vision and strategy to corporate, brand, platform and or product group vision and strategy.
- Inspires the team to bring their own creativity and insights to the problem to create better solutions
- Determines business value for new ideas and features
- Draws on a range of stakeholders and leverages a number of techniques (journey mapping, personas, user story mapping, prototyping, etc.) to breakdown initiatives and features into epics and stories.
- Ruthlessly refines and prioritizes the product backlog to best achieve the product vision, purpose, goals and key performance indicators.
- Ensures the product backlog is the single source of record for all the work (e.g. features, enablers, defects, tech debt reduction, risk/compliance, etc.) for the team
- Understands the value of remediating ‘tech-debt’ to ensure the product is maintainable and extensible throughout the product life cycle
- Connects with and makes decisions which take into account the views and opinions of all relevant stakeholders
- Shields the development team from all of the external noise, such that they see only a single backlog and a clear view of the priorities of backlog items
- Continuously collaborates, communicates, negotiates and influences stakeholders
- Updates, maintains and communicates notional roadmaps and release plans.
- Ensures that the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the development team will work on next
- Formulates the sprint goal and organizes the product backlog to achieve the sprint goal
- Ensures the development team understands items in the product backlog to the level needed.
- Attends and listens in on daily stand-ups
- Is readily available to the development team during the sprint to answer questions, elaborate, split or accept stories
- Leads backlog refinement events by identifying which stories to tackle each session.
- Can cancel a Sprint if the team determines that the sprint goal cannot be achieved
- Accepts stories as complete that meet acceptance criteria and definition of done either prior to or during the Sprint Review.
- Participates in the sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Invites stakeholders to the sprint review.
- Determines whether the sprint goal was met or not met during the sprint review. Solicits feedback for stories to add to the backlog.
Product Group Involvement
- Participates in product group meetings (e.g. roadmapping, release planning, product owner sync meetings, system demos, system retrospectives)
- Coordinates priorities and dependencies with other Product Owners and the Group Product Manager
- Prepares for and contributes to the production of group system demos to stakeholders
“The target compensation range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 annually. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience, as well as internal equity and market conditions
