Position Summary 

We are looking for a Tax Advisory Project Manager in our Shareholder Advisory group who can help facilitate a variety of post-closing Merger and Acquisition (M&A) tax obligations and issues. As a Tax Advisory Project Manager, you will be a direct liaison between key buyer and seller stakeholders regarding tax matters and obligations under merger and purchase agreements. You will be primarily responsible for facilitating corporate income tax return reviews by tax professionals and the remittance of corporate pre-closing tax refunds due to selling holders on a deal-by-deal basis. Background in M&A is preferred but not required.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Tax Advisory.

Location: This is either a hybrid position based in our Denver, CO office or a fully remote position within the Continental United States.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is between $65k and $75k, depending on experience level.

 

Primary Responsibilities    

  • Work with various buyer and seller parties to facilitate the review of corporate pre-closing income tax returns and purchase price allocations by tax professionals
  • Facilitate the remittance of corporate pre-closing tax refunds due to selling holders
  • Liaison directly with buyer and seller parties, as well as outside legal counsel and tax advisors
  • Client communication with securityholder advisory committees regarding merger and purchase agreement obligations and related decisions
  • Track the status of 500+ simultaneous M&A transactions with respect to tax obligations
  • Coordinate with teammates to approve releases of escrow funds
  • Research the deal background and keep track of important milestones
  • Manage dates, cases, important notes, and upload documents for each deal
  • Create invoices and track monthly Tax Advisory revenue using internal systems
  • Monitor the Tax Advisory team’s “Tax Review” email inbox and respond in a timely manner to varying requests
  • Other duties as assigned

 Required Qualifications & Skills  

  • Graduate of an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 2-5 years of related work experience, preferably in the financial services or M&A industry
  • Extremely meticulous, precise, and detail-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and adaptability
  • Ability to quickly shift between tasks and manage multiple cases, dates, and deals concurrently
  • Technologically literate and proficient with email and online information platform/willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Excellent research skills, including the ability to critically analyze complex details and communicate effectively about them
  • Team player who takes ownership of issues and follows through to resolution
  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate

Physical Requirements / Special Demands
