  • Participate in Scrum meetings, daily standups and design review sessions; communicate findings, blockers, and opportunities for process improvements.

G.E.H.A’s internship program is designed to develop a pipeline for potential full-time opportunities; however, conversion to regular employment is not guaranteed and depends on business need, performance, and available headcount.

G.E.H.A’s Data & Analytics division is the center point for Data Management and Analytics. The team works to integrate and manage data from various systems to allow both individuals and applications to have the data and insights needed to make data driven decisions. The team is also responsible for integration with external vendors to ensure quality and timely data extraction.

The Intern Data Analytics will work with business data analysts, data scientists, analytics engineers, managers, other data analytics teams, and business stakeholders to assist in projects centered around reporting and supporting data-driven decision making.  The work will involve the intern rotating through each of the Analytics teams, allowing the intern insight into the key roles each group plays in the analytics process. This will involve gathering business requirements, creating and cleaning datasets, performing statistical analysis, and creating data visualizations to help support data driven decision making at G.E.H.A. Through these projects, the internship will develop analytical skills, enhance visualization techniques, improve healthcare data literacy, and gain industry exposure through real-world projects designed to improve G.E.H.A’s analytic maturity. 

Key Duties

  • Perform assigned data analysis and technical design under direct supervision

  • Participate and assist in validating data loads by comparing source to target

  • Use data engineering tools to provide meaningful results such as data quality checks for accuracy, completeness, and consistency

  • Partner with cloud data engineers and analytics to help prepare datasets for analytical dashboards

  • Assist in troubleshooting data discrepancies reported by data consumers

  • Gain understanding of the various data management tasks and responsibilities to deliver a data driven, cloud centric platform for the enterprise

  • Participate in scrum meetings, daily standups and design review sessions with the D&A team

  • Communicate findings, blockers, progress and opportunities for process improvements

  • Shadow senior team members to understand enterprise data architecture

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program with a focus on information technology or data and analytics.

  • 3.0 overall GPA

  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation abilities

  • Demonstrated initiative both independently and within a team environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Interest in healthcare quality, compliance and accreditation processes

  • Demonstrated success with process improvement

Potential Projects

  • Analysis and design of G.E.H.A member eligibility model 

  • Analysis of data quality for a specified subject area (eligibility / claims)

  • Simple metric aggregate data set

  • Risk score metric prototype

Work-at-home requirements

  • Must have the ability to provide a non-cellular High Speed Internet Service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems for a home office.
  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 30x5 (30mpbs download x 5mpbs upload) is required.
  • Latency (ping) response time lower than 80 ms
  • Hotspots, satellite and wireless internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

While this is a remote opportunity, at this time G.E.H.A does not hire employees from U.S. territories or the following states: Alaska, Hawaii, California, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Maine.

Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.  G.E.H.A considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

The hiring range for this position is $43,160 - $54,600 USD. At G.E.H.A, the current maximum salary for this role is $60,840 USD. While initial compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications, there is a path to work toward this top rate through performance and continued growth within the organization. The salary range shown represents an annualized full‑time rate. Intern compensation will be prorated to align with the duration of the internship.
