Roles & Responsibilities

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 25 years of PNT experience and at least 20 years in the respective technical fields
  • Recognized expert in the DoD PNT community with deep GPS/GNSS knowledge; experience with alternative navigation systems; strong analytical, technical writing, and presentation skills; publications or patents and leadership in standards committees
  • Preferred: PhD or Master's degree in Engineering; 15 years of PNT experience and at least 10 years in related technical fields

Requirements:

  • Serve as a recognized PNT expert providing rapid-response technical support across Multi-GNSS Receivers, PNT Antennas/Electronics, and Alternative/Complementary Navigation, delivering senior-level recommendations within one business day
  • Lead and execute Studies and Analysis tasks, conduct advanced trade studies on technology approaches and system designs, develop technical white papers and research reports, support PS-BCA, and evaluate emerging technologies for insertion opportunities
  • Develop capability and technology roadmaps for GPS User Equipment, identify maturation requirements and timelines, assess industry capabilities and development trends, and recommend technology insertion strategies to support modernization planning for airborne/handheld/antenna platforms
  • Perform Data Rights Analyses and provide expert consultation on complex technical issues, evaluate impact on sustainment and upgrades, recommend intellectual-property approaches, mentor junior engineers, support design reviews, and participate in industry groups and standards committees

Job description

Overview:

Apogee has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer to provide contractor site reachback support for theM-Code Aviation Receivers Joint Program Office (MAR JPO). These positions provide recognized PNT expert-level technical support for Studies & Analysis, trade studies, and technology roadmap development. 

These are full-time remote positions with occasional travel to government sites. 

Responsibilities:

Senior Technical Expertise:

  • Serve as a recognized PNT expert in DoD community with demonstrated qualifications 

Provide expert technical support in one or more areas: 

  • Multi-GNSS Receivers 
  • PNT Antennas/Antenna Electronics 
  • Alternative/Complementary Navigation
    • Support rapid response technical requirements (available within one business day)
    • Provide senior-level technical recommendations and assessments 

 

Studies & Analysis:

  • Lead and execute complex Studies & Analysis (S&A) tasks
  • Conduct advanced trade studies on technology approaches and system designs
  • Develop technical white papers and research reports
  • Support Product Support Business Case Analysis (PS-BCA)
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and insertion opportunities 

Technology Roadmaps:

  • Develop capability and technology roadmaps for GPS User Equipment
  • Identify technology maturation requirements and timelines
  • Assess industry capabilities and development trends
  • Recommend technology insertion strategies
  • Support airborne/handheld/antenna modernization planning 

Data Rights Analysis:

  • Conduct studies on data rights acquisition approaches
  • Evaluate the impact of data rights on sustainment and upgrades
  • Assess technical baseline return-to-government strategies
  • Provide recommendations on intellectual property approaches 

Expert Consultation:

  • Provide expert consultation on complex technical issues
  • Support design reviews and technical assessments
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Participate in industry working groups and standards committees 
Qualifications:

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen 
Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a TS/SCI level clearance 
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Years of Experience: 25 years of PNT experience and a minimum of 20 years of experience in respective technical fields

Additional Experience:

  • Published works in well-known PNT professional journals or conferences 
  • Submitted PNT-related patents 
  • Chairperson/board member/major technical contributor of industry and/or government standards committee for PNT-related architecture
  • Recognized as an expert in the DoD PNT community
  • Deep knowledge of GPS/GNSS systems, navigation, and PNT technologies
  • Experience with alternative navigation systems (eLoran, INS, vision-based navigation, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills

 

Preferred Experience:

Education: PHD or Master's Degree in Engineering in a related field
Years of Experience: 
15 years of PNT experience and a minimum of 10 years of experience in respective technical fields

Location: Contractor Site (National - Remote)
Remote: This is a full-time remote position

Travel: Travel up to 25% may be required, per the customer's discretion
