Why Ness

We know that people are our greatest asset. Our staff's professionalism, innovation, teamwork, and dedication to excellence have helped us become one of the world's leading technology companies. It is these qualities that are vital to our continued success. As a Ness employee, you will be working on products and platforms for some of the most innovative software companies in the world.

You'll gain knowledge working alongside other highly skilled professionals that will help accelerate your career progression.

You'll also benefit from an array of advantages like access to trainings and certifications, bonuses, and aids, socializing activities, and attractive compensation.

Requirements & Responsibilities

We are searching for a Senior Python Engineer with some AI experience to join our Places team.  HERE Places is a global, high-precision database containing over 120 million points of interest (POIs) across 200 countries, serving as the "ground truth" for automotive navigation, logistics, and enterprise location intelligence. It provides a deeply structured digital representation of the physical world, offering more than 400 categories of locations—from EV charging stations and retail hubs to industrial landmarks—enriched with detailed attributes like precise coordinates, opening hours, contact info, and accessibility data. Optimized for high-throughput batch processing and real-time search via the HERE Geocoding & Search API, the dataset is unique in its ability to be licensed as a standalone product, allowing developers to build custom spatial analytics and machine learning pipelines that require global consistency and fresh, verified location data.

You will work with cutting‑edge technologies to process spatial datasets from multiple sources, build intelligent matching pipelines, and deploy scalable solutions on AWS. The outputs you help build will directly contribute to improving global map data quality, powering systems used by leading automakers and location‑based applications worldwide.

This is an opportunity to solve complex geospatial challenges, build automated data pipelines, and work with highly collaborative colleagues in an innovative environment.

What you’ll do

  • Work with large-scale geospatial datasets and develop robust Python-based data processing pipelines.
  • Implement advanced spatial SQL queries and work with relational databases for geospatial analysis.
  • Build and maintain AWS-based architectures for scalable data processing and application deployment.
  • Design and implement API-driven data extraction, including handling JSON and XML formats.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, data scientists, and customer stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver high‑quality solutions.
  • Contribute to coding standards, review peer code, and ensure high-quality, efficient, and reusable software.
  • Participate in agile development processes, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you’ll bring

  • Advanced Python development skills, particularly in geospatial data processing and automation.
  • Proven expertise in building automated data pipelines and workflow orchestration.
  • Working experience with geospatial ML/AI techniques, spatial analysis, and feature engineering.
  • Strong proficiency with AWS Cloud services for data engineering, deployment, and scaling.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, data extraction, and parsing JSON/XML structures.
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments and scripting best practices.
  • Experience using collaboration and version-control tools (Git/GitLab, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience, with a strong Python focus.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, repeatable, and reliable code.
