BI / Data Warehouse Engineer (Azure/SSAS) — Full Remote Global

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a senior role for a data professional who combines strong analytical modelling skills with solid cloud and DevOps foundations. You'll be working within a data-mature organisation that relies on robust warehouse design and high-quality semantic models to drive business intelligence at scale.

If you're equally comfortable designing dimensional models and fine-tuning DAX expressions as you are deploying via Azure DevOps pipelines, this is a role where both sides of your skillset will be put to work.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll be contributing to the design, development, and optimisation of data warehouse solutions and analytical models that serve reporting and decision-making across the organisation. The environment is Azure-centric, with a strong emphasis on structured modelling, performance tuning, and maintainable BI infrastructure.

The team values engineers who bring both technical rigour and an understanding of how data flows from source systems through to end-user reporting layers — and who can own that journey end-to-end.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data warehousing and BI engineering

Cloud & DevOps

• Azure Analysis Services — design, deployment, and administration
• Azure DevOps — pipeline management and version-controlled deployment workflows
• PowerShell scripting for automation and infrastructure management

Data Warehouse & Modelling

• Solid data warehouse design experience — dimensional modelling, star/snowflake schemas
• SSAS Tabular Model — development and lifecycle management
• DAX — advanced measure and calculated column authoring
• SQL — complex querying, performance tuning, and data modelling
• SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

Tooling

• Visual Studio / VSTS for BI solution development
• Tabular Editor for SSAS/Power BI model management
• DAX Studio for query analysis and optimisation
• SentryOne Plan Explorer for SQL query performance diagnostics
• MS Excel — advanced usage including PivotTables for data validation and analysis

Languages

• English fluency required — written and verbal

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Power BI Desktop — report development and dataset management
• Good understanding of Databricks architecture and lakehouse patterns
• Familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics or similar modern data platform tooling
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum data engineering teams
