Cloud/DevOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes) — Full Remote Global

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a senior hands-on role for a cloud operator who doesn't just keep the lights on — you architect the reliability, security, and scalability of production infrastructure across multi-cloud environments. You'll be joining an engineering organisation that takes cloud governance seriously, runs complex distributed workloads, and values engineers who take ownership from incident to improvement.

If you have deep AWS roots, strong Kubernetes instincts, and a security-first mindset, this is an environment where your expertise will have direct, measurable impact.

PROJECT & CONTEXT

You'll be operating within a mature cloud platform spanning multiple AWS accounts, with exposure to GCP and Azure. The infrastructure underpins SaaS and PaaS products, and the team handles everything from provisioning and networking to security hardening, cost optimisation, and on-call incident response.

The stack is well-established but continuously evolving — the expectation is that you contribute to that evolution, not just maintain the status quo. You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and interface with both infrastructure and application layers.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required)

Experience

• 8+ years of hands-on cloud operations experience
• 2+ years with Kubernetes in production environments
• 2+ years with CI/CD pipelines and tooling
• 3+ years with Linux system administration
• 1+ year of on-call / pager duty experience

Cloud Platforms

• Primary: AWS — deep, hands-on expertise required
• Strong understanding of AWS multi-account architecture and governance
• Solid experience with: IAM, VPC networking, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config, and AWS Backup
• Working knowledge of GCP and/or Azure; OpenStack familiarity is a plus

Container & Infrastructure

• Kubernetes — cluster operations, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Docker and VM management
• Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and Git-based CI/CD workflows
• Helm charts, Git

Application Stack

• Hands-on experience with Java application servers: Tomcat, JBoss
• MySQL database operations and administration (2+ years)

Security & Governance

• Implementation and enforcement of cloud security configurations, IAM access controls, and best practices
• Working knowledge of cloud security standards (CIS, AWS Well-Architected, or equivalent)
• Configuring and optimising cloud resources: VPC, IAM, Auto Scaling

Observability & Tooling

• Grafana for monitoring and dashboarding
• Rundeck for job scheduling and automation
• JIRA for workflow and incident tracking

Scripting & Languages

• Bash and Python (required)
• Zsh scripting

Languages

• English fluency required — written and verbal

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred)

• Familiarity with FinOps principles and cost optimisation frameworks (FinOps Foundation concepts)
• PowerShell scripting experience
• Hands-on exposure to SaaS/PaaS product operations at scale
• Experience with Windows system administration alongside Linux
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent)
