Requirements:

  • Define and implement a scalable Snowplow event taxonomy aligned with North Star architecture principles and enable cross-platform integration (mobile and web).
  • Design and document event schemas using Iglu and JSON Schema; establish governance models for taxonomy evolution and versioning.
  • Lead end-to-end Snowplow tracker integration and pipeline configuration; collaborate with mobile and backend teams to ensure instrumentation accuracy and validation; ensure downstream tool compatibility (Hightouch, Redshift, SageMaker, Spark).
  • Define data quality rules, automated checks, monitoring, and alerting for schema compliance and pipeline health; drive best practices in event naming, structure, and metadata tagging; provide training and onboarding materials for internal teams.

Snowplow Taxonomy Consultant Specialist (Architect Level)

Location: Remote / Costa Mesa, CA (Hybrid optional)

Contract Type: Consultant / Contract

Duration: 6–12 months (with potential for extension)

Reports To: Vice President of Software Development Role Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Snowplow Taxonomy Consultant Specialist to lead the design, implementation, and integration of a robust event taxonomy framework using Snowplow within our digital ecosystem. This architect-level role will be instrumental in aligning our data collection strategy with business goals, ensuring semantic consistency, and enabling scalable analytics across platforms. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Strategy • Define and implement a scalable Snowplow event taxonomy aligned with North Star architecture principles. • Architect the integration of Snowplow across mobile (iOS/Android) and web platforms. • Design and document event schemas using Iglu and JSON Schema standards. • Establish governance models for taxonomy evolution and versioning. Implementation & Integration • Lead the end-to-end implementation of Snowplow trackers and pipeline configuration. • Collaborate with mobile and backend teams to ensure seamless instrumentation and validation. • Integrate taxonomy with SDUI components and GraphQL subgraphs for consistent event generation. • Ensure compatibility with downstream tools (e.g., Hightouch, Redshift, sagemaker, spark). Data Quality & Validation • Define validation rules and automated checks for schema compliance. • Implement monitoring and alerting for event integrity and pipeline health. • Drive adoption of best practices for event naming, structure, and metadata tagging. Collaboration & Enablement • Work closely with product, analytics, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into event definitions. • Conduct training sessions and workshops on taxonomy usage and Snowplow instrumentation. • Create documentation and onboarding materials for internal teams. Required Qualifications • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, analytics engineering, or event instrumentation • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowplow Analytics, including Iglu schema registry and pipeline setup • Deep understanding of event taxonomy design, semantic modeling, and schema governance • Experience integrating Snowplow with mobile apps, especially in Swift/Kotlin environments • Familiarity with GraphQL, SDUI, and modern app architectures • Strong knowledge of data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery) and BI tools (Looker, Tableau) • Excellent communication and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Apollo Server and GraphQL subgraph design • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices • Prior experience in financial services or PFM domains • Contributions to open-source Snowplow projects or schema libraries Deliverables • Event taxonomy framework and schema registry • Integration playbook for Snowplow across platforms • Training curriculum and onboarding guides • Governance model for taxonomy lifecycle • Documentation of implemented schemas and instrumentation patterns Engagement Model • Agile collaboration with feature squads • Weekly syncs with architecture and analytics teams • Bi-weekly demos and stakeholder reviews • Slack and Confluence for communication and documentation
