Summary:

The Spend Executive is responsible for building client strategy through account planning, implementing non-labor spend strategies that drive partnership penetration while aligning with client priorities and managing client risk. This role serves as the executive-level point of contact for client supply chain and C-suite stakeholders, and leading client performance improvement to achieve sustainable outcomes. The territory will consist of clients located in Texas and Louisiana.

Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Leadership
    Build and sustain trust-based relationships with C-suite and senior executives. Serve as a strategic partner who understands client goals and consistently delivers value that drives measurable improvement.

  • Strategic Account Planning
    Develop and execute multi-year account strategies aligned with client priorities and organizational objectives. Identify opportunities to expand partnerships through innovative solutions and differentiated performance outcomes.

  • Analytical Storytelling & Problem Solving
    Leverage data and insights to diagnose challenges, identify opportunities, and communicate recommendations through compelling, evidence-based narratives tailored to executive audiences.

  • Financial & Business Acumen
    Interpret financial performance metrics and business drivers to inform strategy, measure impact, and ensure alignment with value creation objectives.

  • Strategic Thinking & Planning
    Anticipate industry trends, guide clients through market shifts, and shape strategies that position both the client and the organization for long-term success.

  • Collaboration & Influence
    Partner across internal business units to align solutions and resources around client needs. Build consensus and drive coordinated action across diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Executive Presence & Communication
    Represent the organization with credibility, confidence, and clarity. Facilitate productive executive-level discussions that shape direction and accelerate decision-making.

  • Business Development Orientation

Identify and pursue opportunities to deepen client relationships, cross-

sell services, and expand revenue through outcomes-based value

propositions. Maintain customer relationship management database

activity updates for assigned territory (e.g., contact information, active

opportunities, bookings, provider account plan updates, GAF) to achieve

revenue goals​.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree (MBA, MHA, or related) desired.

  • 7 or more years of relevant experience with at least 2 years of direct, accountable experience making and influencing supply chain decisions within hospitals/health systems (not passive exposure) including governance participation (e.g., value analysis, capital approval, executive supply chain forums), hands-on sourcing, procurement and standardization execution, and ownership of financially measurable outcomes (validated savings, utilization performance, compliance).

  • Proven success building and managing executive client relationships and driving performance improvement.

  • Strong financial, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and influence skills with demonstrated executive presence.

  • Identifies issues, evaluates options and drives solutions through ambiguity and competing priorities.

  • Candidates residing in Texas are strongly desired.

  • Ability to travel regularly and expeditiously throughout the year to meet clients’ needs and timetables.  

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $117,600.00 to $206,000.00.

This position is also incentive eligible.
