SAP CO Consultant – Product Costing

This is a remote position.

Role Summary

The SAP CO – Product Costing Consultant will be responsible for end‑to‑end implementation, configuration, and support of SAP Controlling with a strong focus on Product Costing. The role involves working closely with business stakeholders, manufacturing teams, and FI consultants to design and deliver accurate costing solutions aligned with business processes.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP CO – Product Costing Implementation

• Lead end‑to‑end SAP CO Product Costing implementations (ECC).
  
• Configure and support:
  
• Cost Component Structures
  
• Material Cost Estimates (with/without Quantity Structure)
  
• Costing Variants
  
• Valuation Variants
  
• Overhead Calculation Sheets
  
• Costing Sheets
  
• Perform standard cost estimation, current costing, and inventory valuation.
  

2. Manufacturing & Cost Object Controlling

• Implement and support:
  
• Material Ledger & Actual Costing
  
• Production Orders and Process Orders costing.
  
• Work-in-Progress (WIP) calculation.
  
• Variance Calculation (input, price, quantity, overhead variances).
  
• Settlement of production orders to material, CO-PA, or FI.
  

3. Integration Responsibilities

• Strong integration knowledge with:
  
• SAP FI (GL, Asset Accounting, Inventory Accounting).
  
• SAP MM (Material Master, Valuation, Purchasing).
  
• SAP PP (BOMs, Routings, Work Centers).
  
• SAP SD / CO-PA (Cost of Sales, Margin Analysis).
  
• Handle cross‑module testing and reconciliation.
  

4. Business Process & Blueprinting

• Conduct business workshops and AS‑IS / TO‑BE analysis.
  
• Translate manufacturing and finance requirements into SAP solutions.
  

5. Testing, Data Migration & Go‑Live

• Support:
  
• Unit Testing, Integration Testing, UAT
  
• Cutover activities and go‑live support
  
• Validate costing results, variance reports, and month‑end closing outputs.
  

6. Reporting & Month-End Closing

• Support period-end close activities in CO.
  
• Analyze and explain:
  
• Production variances
  
• Cost component splits
  
• Actual vs standard cost comparisons
  
• Support standard SAP costing reports and custom developments.
  

Requirements

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

Functional Skills

• Strong hands‑on experience in SAP CO Product Costing.
  
• Deep understanding of:
  
• Cost element accounting
  
• Activity-based costing
  
• Overhead absorption
  
• Standard vs actual costing
  
• Experience with Material Ledger & Actual Costing (highly preferred).
  

SAP Version

• SAP ECC 6.0 and/or SAP S/4HANA CO.
  
• Exposure to S/4HANA Finance transformations is a plus.
  

Soft Skills

• Strong business communication and stakeholder management.
  
• Ability to work independently in implementation and rollout projects.
  
• Good documentation and presentation skills.
  
• Experience working in global / onsite–offshore models.
  

Nice to Have

• Experience in:
  
• CO‑PA (Account‑Based or Margin Analysis)
  
• Exposure to automotive, manufacturing, pharma, or engineering industries.
  

Key Deliverables

• Configured and tested SAP CO product costing solution.
  
• Accurate standard cost calculations and variance analysis.
  
• Successful integration with PP, MM, FI.
