  • Ag retail experience or experience working with ag retail partners is an asset.
  • Proven ability to interact well with customers, suppliers, employees, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and present technical presentations and perform data analysis.

Requirements:

  • Serve as the primary contact point for retail sellers and farmers to create demand for WinField United Proprietary Brands and other initiatives in partnership with vended suppliers.
  • Provide agronomic training and technical support, leveraging local insights to support retail sellers and growers.
  • Allocate 75% of work hours to customer-facing activities and 25% to supporting Field Trial Initiatives, Answer Plot, and Technical Marketing.
  • Collaborate with internal Agronomists, Marketing Team, Account Managers, and Customer Service Specialists to share strategic messaging, convey agronomic and market insights, and ensure alignment at the retail level.

Market Development Manager

The Market Development Manager is the key contact point of retail sellers and farmers to create demand for WinField United Proprietary Brands, and other strategically important initiatives in partnership with our vended suppliers. This position will also be responsible for providing agronomic training and technical support, leveraging local insights and expertise to support retail sellers and growers.  The individual will allocate 75% of their work hours to customer-facing activities, with the remaining 25% dedicated to supporting Field Trial Initiatives, Answer Plot and Technical Marketing support. The assigned individual is expected to demonstrate and effectively use all associated digital tools including Microsoft suite, SharePoint, and basic data analytics tools.  

The Market Development Manager works closely with our internal Agronomists and the Marketing Team to develop and share strategic messaging with the retail network and convey agronomic and market insights from the retail level.  Full collaborations with Account Managers and Customer Service Specialists are required to support retail partners and work together strategically will help ensure strong customer and product planning, demand creation and alignment at the retail level.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture a minimum of 5+ years of agronomic or sales experience with direct customer contact.  Individuals with a 2-year diploma in agriculture and extensive industry experience will be considered.  Ag retail experience, or experience working with ag retail partners, is considered an asset.
  • A keen interest in agronomy and a passion to help independent ag retailers succeed. 
  • Proven ability to interact well with customers, suppliers, employees, and management.
  • Ability to create and present interesting, informative, and educational technical presentations. Experience in data analysis is considered an asset.
  • Ability to effectively work independently in a remote environment, while also maintaining a collaborative virtual team relationship.
  • Proven ability to solve and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to lift 50 lb. bags, climb on and off farm machinery, walk and work in field plots.
  • Daily travel, extended hours and overnight travel required.
