Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, public administration, or education is required.
  • MBA/MPA desirable but not required.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive related consulting experience, including at least three years in the municipal space.
  • Knowledge of public sector operations broadly, with specific experience in state/local government, public utility, transit, or K-12 schools.

  • Perform project management duties and act as client liaison, including execution of the work plan, periodic status reports, budget management, deliverable development, and coordination with the client team.
  • Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews; actively participate in recruiting talent.
  • Support business development by contributing to practice relationships and growth through market understanding and identifying business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Serve the Client – understand and exceed our client’s needs both internal and external.

  • Performing project management duties and serve as client liaison – execution of work plan, provides periodic internal and client facing status reports, manages the project budget, oversees development of deliverables, and manages coordination with client team. 

  • Support business development needs – contribute to our practice relationships and growth by understanding the market and business impact.

  • Managing, developing, training, and mentoring staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews. Actively participating in recruiting talent to the firm as needed.

  • Attending professional development, networking events and training seminars on a regular basis. Adhering to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree within business, finance, accounting, or public administration, or education is required

  • MBA/MPA desirable but not a requirement.

  • A minimum of eight (8) years experience in progressive related consulting experience, including (3) years within the municipal space.

  • Knowledge of public sector operations broadly, specific knowledge or experience in a public sector setting - state or local government, public utility, transit, or K-12 schools. 

  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, communication skills, and highly developed Microsoft Suite skills (Word, Excel) required.

  • Broad understanding of management and risk consulting concerns including business process efficiency, internal controls, technology and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, finance/accounting/human resource/information technology/etc. business functions.

  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current regarding applicable strategies, see the "big picture" as well as the details, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties.

  • Strong understanding of the professional services industry and ability to develop deliver on a business plan for a team of consultants.

The pay rate range for this job position is $23.75 - $79.75 an hour. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
