The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Science and Medicine Advisor in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX. This position can be home-based.
This is a full time, benefits eligible position with funding through 01/30/2029.

Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will report directly to the Senior Science & Health Advisor and will provide key support across the Association's Lifelong Learning portfolio which encompasses scientific conferences and professional continuing education. This role will contribute as a great teammate to advance strategic goals by assisting with the development, coordination, and implementation of initiatives that elevate the quality, reach, and impact of the Association’s professional education and lifelong learning programs.
- Apply adult learning principles from a scientific and health‑focused perspective to guide the strategy, design, and evaluation of professional education content.
- Translate cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and other clinical/population science into clear, evidence‑based learning experiences that support grant‑funded educational initiatives.
- Assist in content development for learning products to ensure alignment with the latest evidence‑based clinical guidelines, emerging research, and procedures in science and health education.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, clinicians, and researchers to ensure scientific accuracy, educational integrity, and strategic alignment across learning materials, initiatives and scientific conferences.
- Participate in developing needs assessments that communicate scientific and educational rationale for funding new and existing programs.
- Support expansion and innovation of the Lifelong Learning portfolio by applying scientific insight and adult learning expertise across multiple initiatives and product lines.
- Seek the application of artificial intelligence to streamline processes, enhance content development, and help the department achieve strategic goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate scientific rigor, educational strategy, and operational needs into cohesive, high‑impact products and scientific conference content.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- Two (2) years of relevant experience
- Prior involvement in developing learning experiences for professional audiences (healthcare providers, scientists, public health professionals) by applying clinical/scientific information into accurate, accessible learning materials.
- Experience in grant/needs assessment proposal writing to seek funding. Writing samples may be requested.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the desire to work with professional volunteers and internal staff as part of a team.
- Ability to project manage simultaneous projects in varying stages of development while meeting deadlines.
- Attention to detail; organization and prioritization skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities, and unpredictable events
- Ability to travel 10% of the time per year
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of voluntary health organizations or nonprofit organizations.
- Able to write needs assessments that emphasize learning needs/practice gaps to support funding requests.
- Maintain organized review processes; version control; citation integrity; with adherence to educational and grant policies.
- Partnering with clinicians, researchers, comms, product, and operational teams to build cohesive learning products.
- Interpreting and operationalizing evidence based clinical guidelines into learning objectives, cases, and decision aids.
- Experience delivering education within grant requirements (scope, achievements, reporting, documentation).
Compensation & Benefits:
The expected pay range will be $90,000 to $110,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
